Rookie need help! Podcasting

I just set up my CO3U podcasting kit, did some tests and recorded my first podcast with my podcasting partner, via skype...The problem is he dropped out mid-show and now I have 2 "projects", 1 that I need to trim down and add to the second project so I have 1 file.  When I select the content I need via edit - select - by time - them paste it into the other "project it either isn't there at all or it adds the audio right over top of the existing audio.  Is there a easy way to grab the content I need and plug it into the other file without adding it over the other project?

Thanks for your help!

    Welcome to the forum.
Fast forward project 1 to the end.
Paste project 2 onto the end of project 1.
