V100 with MC6 Win 8-64?

Hello Forum, I’m a longtime Project 5 V.2 and Roland M-16DX USB.20 user. I only play along to MIDI Song Files and I’d like to migrate to the Roland V-100 and Music Creator 6 Win8/64 (using a Dell 660 i3 8gb/1TB Win 8/64). I was hoping to gain more DAW control and more VI's with this setup and that Music Creator would be better than any of the Sonar versions for my application. I just purchased both the Roland V-100 (it includes Sonar8ex) and a boxed version of MC-6 XP. I’d like to download all of the upgrades, upgrade to MC-6XP to Win8 and update all of the various parts and latest Win 8 drivers. I’ve looked at all of the V-100 and MC-6 resources (not too much is covered about MIDI) and still have some questions regarding setup and upgrades. Has anyone ever used these together in Win 8? Can you go through the process? Thanks in advance,

The VS-100 has a pretty good quick start guide (follow it exactly).  There are video help instructions incorporated into MC6 that are an option when you first run the program.  Why don't you try following the instructions first and asking for input after you run into any problems?

Thanks for your support Glenn, I have checked all of the docs. They’re confusing and are spread across the Internet on the various Cakewalk and Roland sites and they stop at instructions for installing for WIN XP/VISTA. My upcoming task for needing to update drivers, install drivers, do any hardware and software updates, configuring and reconfiguring software/hardware, installing and registering is pretty harrowing and if done incorrectly can result in a ‘BRICK” with a blank blue screen. I thought with all of the new versions and revisions for WIN 8,there'd be a better tutorial for updating, interfacing and integrating this system. Without any serial numbers to register for tech support your left dangling and that’s why I’m asking in advance.

I’m happy to report that I was able to get the Roland VS Studio 100 functioning with Cakewalk’s Music Creator 6 Touch Win 8 64. It took three 8 hour days, a series of firmware and software downloads and updates using Roland’s On-line Knowledge Database. I got all of the drivers and update installed and the VS-100 to function as a control surface using Roland’s ACT. I now have everything connected and working. The VS-100 seems to be a worthy piece of hardware. Thanks to Roland/Cakewalk and all others that assisted me. I’ll be checking the forums frequently to see if I can offer any future assistance or tips from what I’ve learned.

I've been using my VS100 with Windows 8 since the drivers were released with no problem. I actually use my VS100 as my main audio interface so unless I am watching a movie and need surround sound, it's pretty much always on. Never had a single problem with it.
