MIDI Chord Analyzer reading chord one measure ahead.....

anyone else seeing this during playback? works fine with direct input when playing the keys, but when inserted on a MIDI track it displays and analyzes the chord at the start of the next measure, which is really confusing to interpret.

Hi perfectprint, you aren't alone on this.

i gave up using Sonar's Chord Analyzer. instead i am using this alternative from Pizmidi.

    http://www.thepiz.org/plugins/?p=midiChordAnalyzer

its not a pretty workaround but at least it does the job.

    1. insert this as an instrument in the instrument rack.
(uncheck all the ticks on the left of the panel, check the ticks of "Synth Property Page" & "Synth Rack View)
    2. you should now see the analyzer in an open window.
    3. insert a blank audio track.
    4. set the INPUT of this AUDIO TRACK to " midiChordAnalyzer Primary Output Stereo"
    5. from your MIDI TRACK, which is currently set to the "OUTPUT" of your synth, change it to the output of the "midiChordAnalyzer"
    6. PLAY, and you should see the chords on the analyzer window. (you will not be able to hear any sound though)

    hope this helps....

BTW guys did you read this part of the manual:

Note: When analyzing chords you may see chords being displayed before you hear them. You
can reduce the amount of time these chords appear ahead of playback. To do so, go to Edit >
Preferences > MIDI - Playback and Recording and enter a lower value in the Prepare Using
“N” Milliseconds Buffer option. Excessively low values may cause glitches during playback,
so it is best to gradually reduce the value in this option until the desired result is achieved.

Hey, shot in the dark here, but do you have a record count-in enabled? I've found that certain plugins can get strange when count-in is enabled, particularly E.I.

Hi Razorwit, all along for me the record count-in has never been touched. i have left it as is, 1 measure on record and playback unchecked, since original install.

after reading your post, i tested this out and there is still no difference in the behaviour of the plugin.

also to confirm that the lowest setting for ticks is set at 1 and a setting of 100 also made no difference.

    thanks again.

    cheers!!!
