Installed Sonar X2 PE, but I want to uninstall Sonar 8 PE. Good idea?
Hey, I'm new to these forums, so I would like to introduce myself. My name is Adam. Simply put it, I like to rap, make hip-hop/rap beats/songs and record & mix them. I've got a YouTube channel if anyone is interested: www.youtube.com/adampurskimusic I've recently installed Sonar X2 PE and I must say, good job Cakewalk! Absolutely loving it. I do have a question, I was a Sonar 8 PE user, so will uninstalling Sonar 8 get rid of everything such as the synth plugins? This may sound dumb, but will it delete my projects as well? Glad to be on board with this community. Adam.

Bad idea. Sonar 8 is not taking up much disk space. Best to leave it as is. It won't delete your projects, but you might lose some softsynths or effects.

Deleting a previous version of SONAR will free up less than 200MB, usually resulting in removal of shared utilities and plugins that need to be reinstalled. It also takes away the ability to open projects in an alternate version of SONAR which can be useful, especially for older projects that have problems in newer versions.

Glad to be on board with this community. Adam. Welcome Adam! Well, it's been a few years since 8 came out and I can't remember any specific plugs that are no longer included. The two that stand out in my mind are the Vintage Channel (by Kjaerhus) and the Lexicon Pantheon. I think both were from earlier versions than 8, and I'm not sure when they were discontinued offhand. If you have the room on your hard drive, I would make a copy of the whole Cakewalk folder, then try the uninstall. That way you can replace any plugs or anything else you find missing. You can then delete the back up later after you're happy with everything. Cheers Bud

I'm with daveny5 & scook - you should not uninstall any previous version unless you are absolutely desperate for hard drive space (in which case it;s probably time to invest in a bigger one!)
