Possible bug Sonar/ Session Drummer 3

Hi all,

Has anybody found this bug, or is it something that can't be done.

If I drag a midi pattern from the media browser to the Session Drummer Midi box, I get an error dialog box with no text, but with the title "Error Loading File".
If I drag the pattern to a drum track in Sonar first, and then drag that clip to the SD box, all works as expected.

What gives?

Assuming I understand what you are trying to accomplish I just tried it with and without “run as administrator” and it works when I “run as administrator” and doesn’t when I don’t. Sometimes people login as administrator and believe they are running applications “as administrator” but those are not the default privileges of login as administrator. Right mouse click the short cut and choose “run as administrator”. If you did it this way and it still doesn’t work I don’t know what else to try.

That's exactly what I did. And it doesn't work. Strange thing is, it does work when I drag it to a track first and than drop it on Session Drummer. Anyway, at least now I know it must be my system, and not Cakewalk. Thanks anyway for trying to help.

Check that your content folder isn't set to Read Only...  But this does sound like a permission issue.

    Cheers,

What is the "MIDI BOX"?  As far as know, you need to drag the midi pattern to a midi track which is outputs to session drummer.  When you inserted the session drummer soft synth, did it create a midi track , this is where you drag it.  Sorry if I am misunderstanding.  I am not running as admin and i have never had any issues with this.

TracetStudios, you can drag a midi file from the Media Brower into the MIDI field of SD3 and it'll play it.

I just learned this, tried it, and it works.

Dick must have some other problem.

Setting the contents folder to "not read-only" doesn't help. And you know, if it was permissions, than why does it work if I drag the pattern from the track onto SD? It then creates a new file in the root of the patterns folder. Maybe it's a bug after all, because I installed Sonar on my E drive intead of my C drive. Maybe that has something to do with it?

    Interesting.

I'm getting exactly the same as you dpronk, with the added problem that I cannot even drag a Midi pattern from Sonar into Session Drummer.

It seems the only way i can load a pattern is by using SD's own Midi > Load Patter option

This is on my laptop, if I get chance I'll check on my main DAW later on today

    Hey Bristol_Jonesey,

Now THAT makes sense, and probably has to do with permissions. Like said, Sonar writes a file to the root of the patterns folder of SD3. If it doesn't has permissions, it obviously generates an error. My weird problem is that it DOES have permissions to write, and of the two drag methods available, one works and one doesn't.
WHat I'd like to know: is there a difference in the two methods, does Sonar want to write files to a different location, when I drag from the browser immediately?
