Before the Rain.........Old / New from Spacey / Paulo ** NEW LINKS**

For the benefit of those that don't already know, many moons ago Spacey had a great idea for a mystery forum collab, based on a guitar part he wrote. Despite initial enthusiasm it never came to fruition in the way it was intended.

Fast forward a couple of years to me on a hard drive housekeeping mission during which I found in a dusty corner what was my take on it. I thought he might be interested to hear it, so I sent it to him. He thought it was worthy of an airing, so here it is......

Before the rain

All comments good or bad most welcome as always. I've tried something a bit different with the link / player this time out so  I'd be interested to hear how it works (or not) for you as well.

EDIT : New links for those who are having problems with the first one........

I'm glad you posted it Paul.

I did and still think it was worthy of posting. Not because I had anything at all to do with it but because
I think the writing and vocal performance is excellent and the overall feel of the tune I really like.

My hat's off for your wonderful tune.

This is very good Paulo... seems to me, it could have some commercial appeal/potential... Great arrangement & performances... Well done guys...

Was this "mystery forum collab" ever posted in the "Songs Forum"? I don't remember ever seeing, or hearing about it...

Frank and all- I had nothing to do with this.
Paul was kind enough to send me the file to hear a few days ago
    and I was blown away.
He took a simple acoustic guitar part and created a fantastic tune. I was glad
he decided to post it for others to enjoy.

dear paulo, sorry the link did not work for me...they tell me I had to install Silverlight, and I hate when someone wants me to download anything before I can listen to a song ;-) how about soundcloud?

Paulo, I love this song.  In spite of its simplicity, it is nuanced and layered, and there is more to it than one might hear the first time.  Good to hear from you again, and I hope you're staying busy.

    All the best,

Sounded good to me and like Lynn said it is nuanced and layered. Every thing seems to be in their proper place. Very nicely done.

Spacey - you're very kind. Thank you for the inspiration.

Frank - yeah, it is kinda catchy. The "mystey collab" idea was a couple of years ago now. Might have been in the CH rather than the songs forum, can't remember now.

Strummy - thanks for listening and commenting. Poor form to shamelessly plug ones own work in someone else's song thread though old boy ! ;)

Speedtom - I understand. Silverlight is just Microsoft's video player, that many already have, so nothing sinister. I added some eye candy to accompany the music for a change and just used that as the host for the file. Soundclick / Soundcloud links now added.

Lynn - thanks for the ears and comments. Glad you liked. I like the simplicity of it  - sometimes you can try to hard to be clever if you know what I mean. In this case,  the structure was defined by Spacey's acoustic guitar part as in the initial concept, this was the only guide for the various players - who did not hear each others part. The intention was that only the producer heard all the tracks and was to then produce the final version as he saw fit. I thought it was a great idea and a real challenge for the producer too. Sadly it never came to fruition in the way that was intended.
I have been plugging away as usual with various projects, just took a break from the songs forum for a while as I though it all got a bit silly for a while around the turn of the year, which just turned me off it. Hopefully all that has now passed and I can get  back to just listening to all the great music here.

Clean - same answer as Speedtom. Thanks for trying anyway.

Theguitarplayer - I don't think our paths have crossed before. Thank you for talking the time to listen and comment - much appreciated.

Wow Paulo - I'm sure glad you found this - it is really a great piece of music - so creative. This has a touch of Pink Floyd to it. Love everything about this.

Damn Paulo this is brilliant. Really glad that you found this and decided to share it.

The music and vocals are fantastic, and the lyrics spot on.

Love the way you finished too, just left us hanging there like there will be a sequel? Can we have one?

Timidi - thanks fella, glad you liked.

Mark (CLEAN) - thanks for checking back. Glad it was worth your while. Spacey did a great job of setting this one up I think. It's a shame that his original idea never came to fruition. Would have been very interesting to hear that.

Makke - thank you so much for listening and commenting - especially when not in your native language. Your attitude is a credit to you. I know that I wouldn't have the courage to go on a foreign language forum and make comments in the native language of the forum.

Mark (mstodge) - wow, praise indeed - thank you so much ! Lyrically speaking, the sequel has kind of already been done a while back (Meteor Strike) so I guess that makes this the prequel.
