Can hear my guitar, right up until I start recording. :-/
Hi guys.
After experiencing some problems with a Line 6 UX2 guitar interface, I decided to try a different approach by using a Line 6 Pod 2.0 to record my guitar into my Sonar compositions.
Today I tried out my new Pod 2.0 on top of some synthesised drums, bass and keyboards that I had knocked together in Sonar. After connecting the Pod to my Audiophile 2496 soundcard's lines in, and creating an audio track in Sonar and activating the echo feature, I was relieved to hear my guitar playing coming through loud and clear.
The problem is that once I start trying to record with the backing tracks playing, I can no longer hear the guitar - and it isn't being recorded either. If I hit stop, the guitar track is instantly active again.
I messed about with the ins and outs and generally tried any options I could think of but could not work out what I was doing wrong.
I would appreciate your kind advice. :)

Stone House Studios Do you have looping or punch record active by chance? Brian It would have had the loop function on, but I've not used punch record (still finding my way) so that would be set to off....... unless I turned it on by accident.

I find in most cases/not all its the controls on the interface itself. try doing a test and as you strum with one hand move the knobs on your pods interface. there's usually a knob called mix control, sometimes it this or something similar. if you ve narrowed it down to sonar after excluding your interface a possible problem. see if punch recording is on. this one gets me all the time. edit: looks like brian and I are on the same boat.

Right, well, I've turned the Loop off, I can't find a punch control (is there one in Essential?) but its still the same.
I don't think its my Pod because it sounds absolutely fine through Sonar, right up until I hit play in order to start recording whereupon it falls silent.
I assume my Audiophile 2496 card can take in the Pod signal through the Line Ins and output it and the background music through the Line Outs at the same time?
