Snap to Measure Sonar X1

I am in track view, snap grid is enabled, to measure is chosen, yet my cursor can go to an infinite amount of places rather than snapping to the start of the measure. How do I set the Snap to so the cursor will always snap to the beginning of a measure?

Thanks.Michael

Check the settings in Edit > Preferences > Customizations > Snap and Nudge, especially "Magnetic Strength." Make sure the Advanced button is selected in the Preferences dialog to get to "Snap and Nudge."

have you installed the updates ? up to x1D ?
if you haven't installed updates then there was an issue with snap in earlier releases before the updates.

Yep - definitely update all the way up to X1d - for sure - at the very least, start with that.

Also, although you probably know this, [but I sometimes over look it], make sure that 'On Stop, Return To Now Time' is checked - [I think that's what it's called].

You may also have some landmarks selected. Choose Edit > Preferences. Then choose the Customization - Snap to Grid category. There you can add/remove check marks next to the type of data you'd like to snap to.

Are you trying to go to the next measure, the previous measure, or the closest measure?

Why? Why is this behavior important to you?

    Hi Michael

The snap behaviour depends on which Tool you have selected.

If you are using the Smart Tool or the Select Tool, it should snap the Now Time Marker to the resolution you have set, whether you click directly on a clip, or somewhere on the background.

The Draw Tool does not follow the snap settings at all, either if you click on a clip or on the background.

If you have the Erase Tool selected, it will snap to the resolution, but only if you click on the background.

The Move and Edit Tools will only move the Now Time Marker if you click on the background, and this will not follow the Snap Resolution but move it to wherever you click.
