Need help with ADR and Voice Overs

Hello Cakewalkers,

We all know Nuendo is capable of generating Beeps and Streamers to cue actors, but I can't afford that for now, so i'm relying on Sonar to do this for me.

I hope you know what I am talking about here, its the 3, 2, 1 start! cueing for actors when recording their voice to replace bad dialogues in a video.

I don't know if Sonar is capable of doing this, and I know Protools have quite a number of 3rd party softwares that work with it, like EdiPrompt.
I've watch this guy did the cues on Sonar in this clip at 3:50, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbXDE01tUPY

But how? Anyone can clear my doubt?

Thanks
Yusuf

Hi Yusuf,

If you watch closely you'll see that the beep tones are just a simple audio clip added on track 1.  He's putting that before the section of dialogue that needs to be replaced then he's looping the session from the beginning of the beeps to the end of the dialogue track.

2 audio tracks:

1 beep track
1 dialogue track

Loop record mode

Hope this helps

SONAR's video play back isn't it's strong suit. Kinda like Cubase. Nuendo is, as you know, made just for audio for video.

You can set up a beep track and make your self a beep sample file or grove clip or what ever and then call it up where ever you set it on the time line.

Streamers isn't going to happen within SONAR.

You can set up some sort of actual video display and key in a streamer on a hardware switcher/mixer/black box etc. using a trigger from a SONAR output.

Good luck.

best regards,
mike
