No Song Construction Kit

Downloaded (3x) Installed (5x) Danced a five message thread with Cakewalk tech support who has apparently given up, telling me I can find plenty of loops in the Audio Library. That's not what I want. What I want is what I paid for, the thousand or so loops that somehow has failed to install with my application. There is no Song Construction Kit in my Audio Library, my screens bear only a superficial resemblance to those in the tutorial and at this moment I've blown a hundred fifty bucks for nothing. My purpose here? Not just to vent/rant (Cathartic release!) but to ask if anyone else has had this problem? If no joy here then the next step is to call these people up and ask for my money back.

OK.... lets clarify a few things....

You said you spent $150 ...... on what product exactly? MC doesn't cost nearly that much. ($40 -$50 depending on where you buy it)

A primer on the computer and sound card and the operating system being used as well as the specific software you have will help us to help you better.

I have had a few corrupted downloads (it happens) and usually it shows up as some sort of installation error. No errors, generally means you have a good solid DL and install.

MC and Sonar are not always "plug and play" in every situation. Sometimes it does require some tweezing of settings to get things to work. We can generally assist with that, but we are not cake staff, we are users, just like you.

Finding things may simply be a matter of looking in the correct place.

If you are just buying, you should have MC6. And it does have a bunch of loops and samples in it.

Have you looked at the tutorials and worked through them yet?

Maybe it is this bundle http://www.store.cakewalk...ductid=10-MTSS6.00-30E It has a huge collection of synth presets in addition to the loops that come with the standard MC.

To clarify: The product is Music Creator 6 Touch, and yes, when you purchase the complete bundle (Digital Sound Factory) it's $149.99, ok, not quite a hundred fifty bucks but can be rounded off. The problem is missing files, specifically the song construction kit with it's thousand loops. Tech said I should have that file in my Audio Library, and I don't. I suspect the download files in my account are somehow missing that part of the program, and the obvious check would have been for tech to download my files and see how it installs on a tech computer. I did, in fact, download and install the program on another computer with the same results; no song Construction Kit. The files that I do have play well, there are no technical issues with the computer, there is no snap, crackle or pops going on and other than the missing thousand loops there are no problems. My reason for posting here was just in case some body else had the same problem, apparently no one has, so that's it. Actually, I wouldn't even have missed the song construction kit but it was bragged on by the guy in the tutorial and that's when I figured out I didn't have all I should have.

OK..... That's one heck of a deal....  wow....!

OK ... it's been a really long time since I installed my Sound center add on packs.   And I don't remember the specifics.

However, the packs should install themselves where they are supposed to install.  Accessing them is as simple as opening and running MC and install a soft synth choosing Cakewalk's Sound Center synth.

The sounds are all available in the GUI where you choose a sound. This aspect threw me too when I first installed the 2 sound packs I bought. I had to confirm that they were there by looking for the sounds contained in the packs, in the GUI. They show up in there with the 150 or so sounds that come with it as a default starter kit.

I did have some issues with the first kits not installing or showing up in the GUI. That was an issue that cake did acknowledge and worked with me on to fix. They had to do something to the kits and give me new links but that was a few years back so that aspect should not be the issue here. IIRC it was related to the Vista OS but cake solved it in a few days and it works fine.

In the GUI, where you choose instruments, with all the packs, you should have access to dozens of sounds in each category and sub category. Many of mine are empty. With all the packs, you should have many in each.

If you don't, do not uninstall and reinstall since that would not solve anything since it's not the problem. The program MC6 is installed correctly, but simply can not find the sounds.

Don't panic that you don't have it working yet. Not all installs go perfect. It took me 2 weeks just to figure out how to get sound out of the speakers. The folks here will do our best to help you get rolling.

Now that I understand the issue, I will look into my DAW.... because those sound files should show up in a specific folder on the machine. I don't have time right now to look it all up.... but I will check back later when I have the time.

    Hi
A related, if not quite similar problem: I have the $45-$50 version (got it from Steam, no less). I've been following the instruction videos online but when I get halfway through vid #3, I'm lost because the things showing up in the "teachers" browser window does not show up in mine. Specifically the items in the pull-down menu from "01 Song Blocks" to "09 Song Blocks Parts" are gone.

I assume these  "song blocks" are a part of the program I paid for and not some addon DLC - since they are used in a basic beginners instruction video.

So I searched my hard drives for waw file names I thought I could read from the video but found nothing.

Could this be a problem with Steam?
Would be ever so grateful if someone could help me out.

Problem solved. Probably a waste of time detailing it here as so much time has passed but here's the deal:
MC6 Touch carries the same hype and tutorials as MC6 (No Touch). The problem is I read the ad copy for MC6 Touch and it promised me a thousand loops, a thousand loops that do not come with the program. MC6 (No Touch!), the older program, does, in fact, have the loops. Cakewalk does not sell or any other way acknowledge the existence of MC6 (No Touch). Amazon, however, did have a physical copy of MC6 (No Touch) for thirty-three bucks, I bought it, they delivered it to my door and yes, I was happy to discover, this version had my thousand loops. Why am I so insistent upon a thousand loops? Short version: Age and a disease that's turning my fingers into unfeeling lumps of flesh, and when a guitar player reaches the point where he can no longer feel the strings on the fret board then it's time to pursue other methodologies. And then, of course, there is the tinitus, but that's a different story altogether. So, without guitars, drum machine or even keyboards I put together a little thing and here it is: Just add the http thingy as the link thingy doesn't work, probably got something to do with the age of the post. youtu.be/8y14bNUecy8.

You may wish to look into Band In A Box.  www.pgmusic.com as they have a program that will do some amazing things. If fingers are preventing you from playing, this might be a viable solution. I generally use it for the rhythm stuff, bass, drums, piano, and the fill stuff.

This song,  all the parts, is BB. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11971116 I did this as an experiment to see just what BB was capable if.... now in an effort at full disclosure..... BB did not play the solo's (guitar and piano) and fills exactly as you hear them in this song.

    Hi Folks
I have Sonar x2 producer. I have had it since march installed on my computer and a laptop.
As I do not use the laptop very often I only discovered today that my song construction kits is missing from the audio library on my main computer but are installed on the laptop?

I only found out today because I want to add some guitar samples to my songs and my friend said to go into the audio library and I would find some there.
Mine are completely missing on my main computer but are installed on the laptop.
I installed sonarx 2 pro from the same disc on both the computer and the laptop the same day. So I do not understand why they are missing on the main computer.
What can I do to get these missing song construction kits on my main computer.

This is the wrong forum for X2 issues but since you asked, X2 Producer does not include anything called a song construction kit. It does come with a 4GB+ sound library called "Loops and One Shots" which has a separate installer. If you had a Cakewalk product that had a song construction kit and want the kit you will need to install that product. The X series forum is here.

    Hi Scook
You have cleared this mystery for me.
I have music creator 6 still installed on my laptop which includes the song construction kits. Music creator 6 is not installed on my main computer. I went round to my friends this evening and he had the kits on his computer with sonar x3 so we both presumed they were included. I have just sent him an email telling him the reason.
I know he has music creator 6 on his computer as well.
Thank you for clearing this up for me. I have been scratching my head about it all day.
