X2 re-install? etc

Hey peeps, am seriously thinking of upgrading my motherboard/cpu as my current set up cant even cope with a LASS (all divisi) legato ( 4 instances of Kontakt 5  player being used ) template at a playable latency. 1st core overload.
Have tried everything to make my system work under X2a but it struggles to cope even with a few VST's / tracks. Definitely worse than when i used win 7 and X1d although that wasnt what i'd call smooth ether.
Anyhow... if i replace these components, can anyone tell me if i will need a complete OS re-install or will everything hopefully work as it did before, aside from say a driver or two? ( i know i may have to re-activate win 8 by phone).
The new motherboard with be a different manufacturer and have Uefi instead of bios if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Bibs

I recommend full re-install, but you can be successful with just a mere driver update and license re-activation only. I did that until I finished my project, but re-installed everything soon after. My system runs nicely now, although it still suffers performance loss in X2a vs. X1d or X2. Not bad, though, just noticeable.

I know I had terrible issues with 32-to-64-bit bridging in Sonar when trying to use more than 20 plug-ins on any one session. Bit Bridge or J-Bridge would cause Sonar to eat my CPUs for breakfast.

Moving completely to 64-Bit, and upgrading the CPU to a 4-Core, 8 thread proc helped tons. Sonar can use those threads, so if you can double them, it benefits, for sure.

Moving RAM from 8 to 16 Gigs offered nothing in performance for me, as a side-note.

I was considering replacing my motherboard with a newer one with Uefi and I was told I would have to do a complete rebuild so I decided not to do it at this time since I just had to rebuild because of a bad C: drive. Maybe some others may have tried it successfully.
