I feel stupid- Another dead Behringer product
" I should have known better" ( Beatles) I posted a review on Gear Slutz if your interested in the whole story about my brand new shiny Behringer B212D powered ( not anymore ) speaker. ' http://www.gearslutz.com/board/reviews/837706-behringer-b212d.html#post9040514 Anyhow, don't anybody take advice on gear from me because I obviously make bad choices. Shopping for the Yamaha's now. I also know of a set of QSC's but he want's $800 for the pair.

I don't mind buying low end stuff from behringer - tho I tend to steer away from their products. But anything that might take abuse I leave 'em be. Or anything that might bother my wallet to have to replace. I've bought cheap (non-behringer) cables and if they fail soon, just put them into the "fix someday" pile. sorry to hear about your loss. @

I've had mixed success with "the ear" headphone amp lasted ~3 years. should have lasted longer. behringer truth nearfields - bought em used and they are still going strong couple of compressors - they do fine for the job intended. a couple of FX processors seem to work just fine, too.

Yeah, its hit and miss. I've had amps last a few months and rack gear last years and still going strong.

Quality control I say, That's why some stuff works and most doesn't. The music stores always give you a look when you mention the products and seem to be aware of it's dependability issues, But they are reluctant to steer you away because I believe they get a better profit margin. I know for a fact that Yamaha's margin is less than most. The best thing that could happen for both the consumers and our dead economy is to bring all the manufacturing home again.

I'm a big fan of Yamaha's player grade gear. They do a great job. But I think you should get a EV SX100+ It's the one all the others are a copy of. It will change your opinion of Plastic speakers. best regards, mike

@Cactus Music, I agree, but what about the companies that aren't from the states? What about the Asian brands? Germans? UK? Israeli? Italian? @Mike_mccue - Those speakers are awesome and LIGHTWEIGHT. I had those, some Mackies and JBLs. They sounded the best by far.

Sorry for your loss, John. I have only one piece of Behringer gear here, and (Knock, knock, knock on wood) it's still functioning after about 7 years. But it's just an EQ, not something as critical as monitors. Like I told ...wicked when his KRKs went tits-up: It's a sign from above that it's time for an upgrade.

Consider the powered version. I got the spelling wrong. Look for this EV SX A100+. It's the one all the others are a copy of. It will change your opinion of Plastic speakers. best regards, mike

I've been lucky with the few Behringer bits I've bought: Headphone amp - been running perfectly since 1998 Multicom Compressor - ran perfectly until I decided to rationalise & put it in storage, ditto for the Multigate Bass V-Amp pro - had a dead onboard battery, but otherwise perfect Think that's all

From Wiki- Behringer is an audio equipment company founded by Uli Behringer in 1989, in Willich, Germany. Behringer was listed as the 14th largest manufacturer of music products in 2007. [3] Behringer is a multi-national group of companies, with direct marketing presence in 10 countries or territories and a sales network in over 130 countries around the world. Though originally a German manufacturer, the company now makes its products in China. The company is owned by Music Group, a holding company chaired by Uli Behringer, which also owns other audio companies such as Midas, Klark Teknik and Bugera, as well as Electronic Manufacturing Services company Eurotec. In June 2012, Music Group also acquired Turbosound, a company formerly owned by Harman. [4][5] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The company looks like it has a good solid heritage in the audio industry but my guess is in an effort to meet the demands for low cost competitive products, quality control has taken a backseat. I have only purchased 3 products. A DI box - still works fine The Xenyx 1222FX mixer - Three faders noisy and right stereo output fried completely. Now this Powered speaker, It's a shame about the mixer because I really liked it's configuration and sound. I have replaced it with a Yamaha MG82cx. I bought it because it was real small footprint. The EFX's where easier to dial on the fly in than the A&H which was my second choice. Mike I can't find the speaker your showing at any Canadian stores and it shows as Unavailable, might be older model. It's also 43 lbs and only 150 Watts, The Yamaha's are rated at much more. ... A local musician is selling a pair of QSC's for $800, I'm trying to talk my band mate into splitting the deal. I don't know which model they are. He replaced them with this Fishman system that is a mini line array, A tower of 6x 4" speakers I laugh that we are returning to the "column" speakers of the 70's. It sounded excellent but now we are talking $1,000. http://www.zzounds.com/item--FSMSOLO

What they're not going to say in Wikipedia - because the article was written by a Behringer employee - is that many of their designs are the result of blatant theft. The formula: reverse-engineer someone else's product, send it off to Chinese engineers with one mandate: build it as cheaply as possible. The knobs may fall off in your hand, the power supply may go up in smoke, but you can be sure it'll be cheap!

Back in the day when I played live..... I loved EV loud speakers. We had them in the PA and in the horns, and in my guitar amp..... superb stuff. I don't think we ever blew out those speakers no matter what we dumped into them.... the horn diaphragms were a different story. We did have to replace a few diaphragms but when they were running good (most of the time) OH MY were they crystal.

Yeah, Behringer makes cheap copies of other companies gear. In many cases they are not "bad." If you break a Behringer product open you will see the same quality components you see in other, higher end products, but they are assembled cheaply, and will usually not stand the test of time. Their quality has increased slightly over the past decade. And certainly their new products look promising. A few lessons they learned from acquiring Midas. Unfortunately Mackie is trending toward cheaply made, with the growing necessity of under qualified Chinese labor. Some repair shops here report a significant increase in the amount of Mackie repairs in the past few years. Yamaha is rock solid most of the time.

Mackie actually suffered the implosion of their contract suppliers a few years ago and it almost crushed Mackie. A few years ago Mackie was so leveraged upon third party supply that when their primary third party supplier went belly up, from being lo-balled by companies like Mackie, that Mackie literally ran out of stuff to sell and they couldn't get any more stuff made until they found new third party contract suppliers to set up and produce the famous Mackie made gear. It was so horrid that Mackie bought back all it's stock when it became worthless and it has proceeded as a privately held company ever since so that it can do the stuff you gotta do to survive when you don't have any revenue coming in but you need to find new suppliers. They seem to have recovered from that episode... but they'll never be the same again. Yuck. best regards, mike

Dear Johnny, Sorry to hear about the issue with your speaker. Chase McKnight in our CARE support facility reached out to you on Gearslutz. His direct number is: 702-371-0830 I see that you returned the speaker to the store for a refund. I would like to mention that BEHRINGER actually has a very low number of failures, such as this, in regards to the massive number of units in the market. I know this was not your experience and want to express this is not typical. Once again sorry for your troubles. Please let me know if I can help in anyway in the future. Regards, Joe Sanborn Manager, Product Support MUSIC Group BEHRINGER

You know, I've been a big fan of Behringer, openly I might add, for a while now. My last solo CD was recorded almost exclusively through the ADA8000. I submitted a track to Recording Magazine and they called it one of the best things they got in 15 years, and I even got a couple of emails after from very established producers telling me they loved the sound. On my recommendation, a friend got two of them for his studio too, and they served him well. Unfortunately, both of his have started to get an increasingly loud hum, and mine is starting to do the same. A little research on the internet shows that it happens to just about all of these: insufficient cooling on the Voltage Regulators resulting in Ripple, or something like that.....it's such a shame, because why don't they just design it right, and charge $250 instead of $200.......

I do appreciated that Behringer is paying attention and keeping tabs on negative reviews. So thanks for your reply.
