A song about guns

Hi! Here's a satire piece I just finished. I welcome any feedback, as I'm new to mixing and to this forum. https://soundcloud.com/zorgnak/gotta-have-my-guns Thanks!

Loved it....well, because I hate guns and people who think the can only be free and protect themselves with assault rifles and machine guns. I`d bring the vox up a bit they sometimes get lost.

    Cheers,

    Alan

Whoa.... to you ...oh...earth and sea...
for the devil sends the beast with wrath.....
because he knows the time is short.....
    let him who hath understanding.....
reckon the number of the beast.....
for it is a human number...
    it`s number is.....
    666

So if JESUS rose from the DEAD
Does that mean he`s the ORIGINAL ZOMBIE?

let me be the first to welcome you to the forum! I like the song and the lyrics. The vocals overall - to my ears - need to be a little more "present", they somehow seem to be buried in the mix. beside that, I have nothing to complain. How did you record the drums?

Thanks for the kind words and feedback, gentlemen. For the drums I used an SM57 on the snare, AKG D112 in the kick, a budget MXL condenser as a right overhead and an SM57 as a left overhead...and then I hit R. And then I hit the spacebar and Ctrl-Z and R a bunch more times, in that order :P

Ah hell...that makes you and expert!

Welcome. I agree that the vocals could be a bit more prominent too.

I agree on the vocal issue.... bring them up in the mix.

The rest sounds pretty good on the cheap computer speakers.....

Listening to the song.... nice satire.  Kinda makes me wanna hit the range and blow stuff to pieces.

The force and speed with which I struck the space bar was inversely proportional to how much any given take sucked. New version up with vocals upped. THanks guys
