Need Help with Virtual Drums

Hi,

I need to setup drums in Sonar Home Studio 7 and I'm not sure how to patch them, or write them on the piano roll window.

It's not that I don't know how to use a piano roll view.  It's that it seems to magnify out of proportion and I can't tell where I'm putting my note or the duration.

If someone could give detailed setup instructions or a link to a tutorial or such, would be greatly appreciated.

I tried the stuff in the Sonar 7 Home Studio Manual, but was not really any help.  I am familiar with FL Studio and can develop drum tracks from them, and then use another computer to record the output on the line in on my Sonar computer, but this seems a tad ridiculous.    I would really like to figure out how to use the virtual drums and editor included with SHS7 and any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Jeff

Can't you zoom out to a usable degree in the PRV?
Maybe I don't quite understand what the problem is...

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Hi,

If you look at a loop constructor like Fruity Loops the boxes all represent a beat, and can be set for whatever time signature and whatever the smallest duration may be.  eg.  4/4 time with a 16th beat as the smallest duration.

This would give 64 boxes per bar and viola makes sense.   I don't see any of these options and can't seem to find them in the help section.   If  I could then I'm sure I could figure it out.     Somebody needs to make a walkthrough tutorial for the sessions drums, midi, and piano roll that shows the development of a drum track.

I'm sure this is something simple that is staring me right in the face, but I just can't seem to get it to work.   Will probably feel like an idiot when I do figure it out, but it's frustrating just the same.

Basically, when I place notes, It is hard to tell whereabouts I am in regards to the beat, and my patterns don't sound like they should.

I would really like to get this under my belt so to speak, and save having to set-up mikes for a full drum set and bring in a human session drummer.    If anyone has links to a tutorial and/or suggestions or advice, at this point anything might help.

Thanks folks

Try VIEW Step Sequencer? That should put you into the view you are looking for if I understand you correctly.
