Edirol PCR-300 MIDI Keyboard Controller - Hints and Tips?
Cor blimey, it's a bit quiet in here
Now, I have done a search on the PCR MIDI keyboard range, and there are some older threads, going back quite a few years, but rather than resurrect one of those I thought I'd start up a new one.
Okay... I've had my PCR-300 for around five years now and I have only ever "dabbled" with its knobs, buttons and sliders, and that was some time ago too, back when I was using Sonar 6PE.
So, I thought I'd try and get into using my PCR-300 properly, rather than just as a keyboard.
After few hours of messing around and not getting anywhere I finally decided to hit the manuals, both Sonar and Edirol. Even that was a drag because I'm finding that, at fifty three, manuals now look like gobbledegook to me and I really struggle understanding what on earth is being said. And I used to write machine code and what have you, so it really is an age thing, I hope.
Finally, I got there, and I'm impressed. I will still need to reach for the mouse and computer keyboard, of course, but I can at least now start/stop the transport without moving away from my controller. I've also set up some of the buttons to switch between Track View and Console View, which is handy. I've also programmed a button to save my project.
Trouble is... I'm now on another learning curve, LOL, because I'm sure there is more that I can do with my new found old tool. And life is getting in the way (her indoors has just stormed out of the house because I've been at my DAW since early morning and the dog needs walking and there are a ton of DIY chores that need doing).
While I'm here, I'm wondering if anyone else out there is still using one of these keyboards and if they could give me some hints/tips/ideas on how to use this controller.
cheers
