I run my bass into a direct box that splits the signal and run one output direct into my interface (Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP) and the other into a Carvin bass amp. I mic the Carvin with an sm57. I also run a direct line out of the Carvin into the Focusrite. This gives me 3 tracks of bass which results in a lot of flexibility at mix time.
