Good month for Waves specials
Hey folks, I'm surprised that someone like Bitflipper hasn't yet come in here to trumpet the news, but Waves has some decent deals this month. The Studio Classics collection, including SSL, API, and V-series plugins, is at its lowest price that I've seen -- just a little over $500 at the discounters. There are some who say that these plugins are Waves' finest achievement. I tend to agree about the SSL -- of the many SSL emus I've tried, none can quite match the snap and punch that the Waves versions give me. Also, their other modeled plugins including the Kramer HLS/PIE, CLA comps, JJP Pultec/Fairchild, and the NLS and REDD console emus are offered at good prices (for Waves). As usual, Tony at plugindiscounts.com seems to have the best prices. Happy demoing! Cheers, Eddie

I want the SSL. But for someone like me who dont do music for a living the discounted price is still to much. If anyone has a voucher out there to further get the price down I would be much interested ;-) /M

The SSL bundle is the center diamond of the Waves offerings. They seems to be the proudest of this collection because it's the only bundle not found in the Mercury bundle. You still have to buy it separately. From my perspective, if there is one single bundle I recommend for anyone, this would be the one. The G-EQ alone is worth $100. The Buss Compressor is pretty great as well. The E and G channels marry a lot of things together that, even if you're only running audio through them with no boosts or cuts, you get a bit of the SSL sound. If you can get it for $279, it's worth it, and I find I use this bundle far more than anything else, aside from verbs, surgical EQs (which the E-Channel can sort of do), and other specific plug-ins.
Brian Sonar Platinum, Steinberg Wavelab Pro 9, MOTU 24CoreIO w/ low-slew OP-AMP mods and BLA external clock, True P8, Audient ASP008, API 512c, Chandler Germ500, Summit 2ba-221, GAP Pre-73, Peluso 22251, Peluso 2247LE, Mackie HR824, Polk Audio SRS-SDA 2.3tl w/upgraded Soniccraft crossovers and Goertz cables, powered by Pass-X350. All wiring Star-Quad XLR or Monster Cable. Power by Monster Power Signature AVS2000 voltage stabilizer and Signature Pro Power 5100 PowerCenter on a 20A isolation shielded circuit.

I agree... I use the SSL bundle more than any other plugin. So utilitarian... and it sounds great

I picked up the Manny Marroquin bundle using my $100.00 Waves voucher (From purchasing Vocal Rider) for $133.00 from Plugin Discounts and I have to say it was a really good deal. I have used a couple of the plugins and they are really nice to get a quick interesting sound.

I thought that Pro Channel was supposed to be Cake's SSL emulation. How does it stack up against Waves version?
