Dual Monitors
Hello all. I've done a search, but no luck. What I'm trying to do is set up two dell monitors. My onboard card has VGA and HDMI outputs. Can I run one monitor from the VGA and the other from the HDMI? I know that one is digital and one is analog, but will it work? Thanks, Bob

Hi, (I'm not the expert in this, btw!) I wouldn't ... different qualities on each monitor ... I recommend upgrading the video card so that it has two outs that are the same ... and make sure that your computer has a Power Supply that can handle it ... when I plugged in a big video card (VCBenchmark in the 3k's), I had to swap out a Power Supply from 450W to 650W ... With two monitors, you might need that!

Hi, Nahhhh ... I would rather get a boomboomBOOM video card, and then have two nice 24" monitors and I can see things JUST FINE ... and not have to switch tasks when doing music or playing WOW ... more fun that way ... !!! EVERYTHING is right there ... you scoot the mouse, and the quality is GREEEEEEEAAAAAATTTTTT instead of lesser with two different processes in the card. But yeah ... you can do that ... but the day you do it right, you're gonna be mad you didn't do it before, and right! WHAT I am not sure about, and am in the process of discussing this with VideCardBenchmark folks is ... how it differs when you are using the dual monitors for MUSIC, and when you are using it for GAMING, or simply multi-tasking with 5 Excel files open, and 2 Access files open, and 3 this and that files open, and such ... I imagine that there would be differences that cause different processor responses, but for my music machines I want 2 monitors on the same video card in the same machine ... and the monitors will be the same, and the machine already has a 650W Power Supply! And a nice GTX650 Video Card! The purchase of the monitors is next!

Haven't looked at the monitor inputs on my desktop for ages but I'm pretty sure one of them is digital and another analog. And I don't notice any difference in the quality at all, in terms of sharpness. Maybe the digital one would have less interference, if there were some kind of interference source nearby, I don't know.

I do it here - two 23 inch monitors, works fine, no noticeable difference between them. I may upgrade the card at some point, and would probably get one with two digital outs. Maybe even use a third monitor..
