Unfreeze, volume and gain not the same?

hi guys. im just wondering.

when i freeze a track. and some days later i decide to unfreeze it to edit a lil the track. i didnt touch the volume or gain and its all changed!
piss me off .. i dont know how to freeze it back to the same volume it was before.

any help ? ty
