How to Update LAME MP3 Encoder? (SOLVED)

Hello All! I was wondering if any of you would be so kind as to give me a step by step guide on how to update the MP3 Encoder in SONAR X2 Producer? I recently noticed that my encoder is at version 3.97, whilst the most recent version is 3.99. I tried asking Cakewalk Tech Support but all they did was link me to lame.sourceforge.net; as if it had nothing to do with them... Not my fault it's outdated, and I payed for the MP3 export license! I know where to get it from, I just don't know how to install it. I've tried various times & read other threads, but they're all either outdated or anyway N/A to SONAR X2... Isn't it weird that they haven't rolled out an update for the MP3 Encoder in years (v. 3.99 is from October 2011) together with the patches/new versions of SONAR, for instance? Hopefully we can create a definitive solution to this problem! Many thanks in advance for your much appreciated and invaluable help! - Mike

If you install the cakewalk Lame Encoder then it is placed in the following location as
TTSLAME.dll and placed into
Program Files\cakewalk\SONAR X2 Producer.

you could try downloading the latest version of the Lame dll file, renaming it and placing it in that location. I'm not sure if that will work though but you could give it a go.

it wont make any difference though as the function calls that are made to that library are determined by the various config files that are set by SONAR's installation.

You can edit this too but there is no advantage to doing this as you will still only get an mp3 file of a certain bitrate as set by the various export options.

if you want more advanced control over the mp3 export you'll have to use lame externally to SONAR and use either the command line version or one of the many Windows variations but do all the processing externally to SONAR.

For years any update to the lame dll has only sought to iron out a few bugs but there is no change in the way the library operates. Not really any meed for an update within SONAR as you'll still get an mp3 file at the end of the export and convert process.
