Waves: Puigchild/Puigtec Plugs (Native)
I bit on the sale last weekend and purchased a bundle containing these plugs. Downloaded, Installed, Activated, and can see that they have been installed. In the Preferences (VST Settings) I have added the correct file paths to where the installation put them. I have scanned for new VST's numerous times and SONAR X2 doesn't seem to want to find them. I can't see them in the PlugIn Manager nor in the Browser pane. I have successfully installed and am using some other Waves plugs but the JJP Analog Legends plugs are MIA. Anyone have a clue how I can get SONAR to find them? Any help would be appreciated!!

As you would insert a plugin on a audio track FX box ,,,go to the very top of your plugin list and choose manage plugins . there you will fin all your VST plugins on the left so select all your Puig plugins and add to folder in list or make a folder for the ,, save this as your plugin list and it will be in your plugin list after that

Hi cuitlahac, This sounds like what happened to me a couple nights ago. I'm demoing a couple Waves plugs and they weren't appearing in the plugin manager for me either. Here's what happened and how I fixed it. Waves plugins install under a shell, so there is a single dll called WaveShell-VST-x.x.dll (x.x is the version number) where all the plugins reside. In my case, I had version 9.1 installed when I downloaded my demo and the current version is 9.2. For some reason when I installed the plugins I was demoing it installed the newer version (WaveShell-VST 9.2) in some other folder than the one I had chosen when I installed originally. So I had WaveShell-VST 9.1 in my VST paths still, and then I found this other WaveShell-VST 9.2 in some other folder that was not in my VST path. Since the demo versions were in the 9.2 version they weren't showing up in my plugins list. To fix this I ran the installer and chose the "repair" option. After the repair ran I found WaveShell-VST 9.2 in my VST directories along with the old WaveShell-VST 9.1. I removed the old versions, re-scanned and the new plugins showed right up. Hope that helps... Dean

Seems like I have the same problem. I'm running Win7(64) and have WaveShell 9.2 installed. When I try in add an effect, say the PuigTec, I get the waves License Error. Rescanning licenses does nothing, so I choose Skip. When I attempt to rescan my VST folders, it hangs up on "c:\program files (x86)\cakewalk\vstplugins\WaveShell-VST 9.2.dll". I tried the "Repair" option with no luck.

Waves installs both 32 and 64 bit versions. Make sure your path is to the 64bit. Also check your registry for the waveshell entries. Sometimes they don't get written to the registry and sonar won't see them. It's happened to me several times. It sounds like your version of the Waves installer (WOLI.exe) is now outdated, and you may have tried installing these newer sub-version plug-ins with the old installer. You will need to download the latest WOLI.exe from Waves, and then re-install ALL of your Waves plug-ins. WARNING! Go to each Waves plug-in on each session you wish to keep Waves settings and save them individually before doing this (Saving ProChannel or FX settings in Sonar WILL NOT WORK!): Close Sonar, btw before doing this. 1) Download the latest Waves WOLI.exe or offline installer from your Waves account. 2) Install the plug-ins as normal, BUT, if you're running 64-Bit Sonar, choose a hidden directory for where the installer wants to place the 32-Bit versions of the plug-ins. Doing this will significantly reduce Sonar crashes with Waves plug-ins. 3) Finish the Install. 4) Start Sonar. 5) Reset the plug-ins per Cakewalk instructions (WARNING: you likely will lose all your previously saved Waves settings unless you've saved them individually in each session.) 6) Rescan plug-ins or restart Sonar. NOTE: The reason you will lose Waves settings in a session is because Sonar does not understand the minor version update from Waves (from 9.0 to 9.2, for example). It sees them as a whole new set of plug-ins. Therefore, Sonar will tell you it can't find these plug-ins. You will need to delete and replace the existing Waves plug-ins with the same ones on each session (whether in the FX bin or ProChannel FX), then load your saved settings for them. Trust me, I wish this wasn't the case, and for me it literally destroyed hundreds of old sessions forever, but it is something either Waves, Cakewalk, or both didn't predict. Being able to install the old Waves plug-ins would help me recover those older sessions, but Waves licensing doesn't allow this, unfortunately. Fail.

SideNote: The PuigChild is amazing! I absolutely LOVE it for Mastering or using on a buss somewhere.

Here's a tip on getting a stereo track (synth for example)to open up the middle with the stereo puig plug. create a bus and insert the Puig stereo comp. Output the stereo track to the bus. Don't use an insert for this. Set it to LAT/Ver, set the left channel input to 20, the left threshhold to 0, the left channel output to 0. Set the right channel to 8, right threshold to 5, the right output to 0. This is my basic settings. You can play with the left and right dials to achive what you want.
