A Blues Rock jingle I am working on for a local radio show.
I have never played much in the way of blues but that is what they wanted for the spot. This is going to be used as intro music for a local talk AM radio show. It was fun to be pushed out of my comfort zone musically. It's only about a minute long by design. I wrote it and did the instrumentation as well as the mix. Thanks for listening. https://soundcloud.com/st...harlotte-county-speaks

cool... are you working with them on it getting feedback on what they think? 2 notes or observations. 1. It sounds a bit mid heavy to me on the "computer speakers". Not as clean and crisp as I would think it needs to be for radio. Glen Beck uses music very similar to this.... as in played by a band... listen to his bumper music. 2. Rather then hit the last chord and fade.... put a button ending on it at :59 3 drum hits would do it. tom tom kick .... be out at :60 since radio shows run to the second. It would be really cool just to get the intro to a radio show even on a local station. Nice resume enhancer for sure.

Hey Herb! Yes, I was working with them back and forth. The initial request was "something kinda bluesy, not too in your face". The 1st mix I sent them as a work in progress was like this but had no wah on the guitars and during the hook (Charlotte County Speaks part) the lead line was more laid back and stayed in a call/answer type format... They loved the track but asked me to "shred the guitar up some more, especially towards the end" and asked for wah wah in there. I revised it as requested and this was the result. I emailed it after the session at about 1 Am that night. The next morning around 7am they wrote back and said the love it and that it will be one the air leading into the 10am hour. And it was! As for the EQ, It has a nice healthy EQ curve peaking in the low mids with a gradual slope off into the highs, and as I told them I generally like to live with a mix for a few days prior to release to check it on multiple systems and tweak it out.... They loved it and ran with it. So, I guess I am done with it? I hear what you are saying about it being just over a minute, but they liked it and as the end fades out he is already starting to talk over it anyway. This is nice on my resume for sure. I am aiming to do more jingles/songs for local businesses so this is indeed a nice feather to put in my cap!

Well hells bells.... you can't beat that with a stick.... if the customer loves it and says it's ON THE AIR at 10.... all that left is to cash the royalty checks and start shopping for mansions.

Herb- I wish.... This one was kind of a volunteer job as I am trying to get them to offer my services to other businesses as they sell radio advertising slots. Trying to use the ole Noggin' Sometimes ya gotta give a little to earn trust, confidence, and referrals. Tom- Are you seeing that picture as my avatar? On my end it shows the one of me sitting at my console looking over my left shoulder...?

Yeah... I figured that Chuck... local stuff doesn't pay the light bill normally, some national stuff doesn't either. It's pretty disheartening at times.... but the way to make money is through lots and lots of little things that pay a few bucks per month each. You're right, get your name out there as a "GO-TO GUY" for bumper music, custom jingles, and spots, and things will start to happen.

Hey Chuck, that is exactly what I am seeing, a guy with a blue shirt, and "ChuckC Engineer in Training" written on it. I wonder what anybody else is seeing?

This is really good Chuck. Great intro guitar licks and the vocals are really good. What a great opening line as well...."Wake up, grab a cup of Joe." This will surely get you more biz.

Timidi- Thank you sir! Herb- I will take your word on that and I am sure I will learn more about how this works business wise when it comes to these little music spots. If you have been doing this or have experience in this area, could you drop me a PM so I could then pick yer brain about it a bit? Tom- That is weird, I stopped using that avatar about 6-7 months ago I think. and I don't even see it on my profile? Furthermore, with this new set up on the forum.... I can't find anywhere that shows that pic for me or how to change it. Nonat- Thanks but. I am glad you do! Mike- I certainly hope so! I don't even own a slide anymore... a socket had to do the trick in a pinch! haha Thanks for the compliment on the vocals. It seemed fitting as it is a morning show.

Cool. I thought the guitar could use a little more mid EQ but cool tune. Daryl
