I just want a simple list of all MIDI events < 200 ticks in duration by channel.

I thought I understood how to do this awhile back, but if I did, it was apparently convoluted, as I have forgotten, and the documentation is unclear.

I have 2 windows open in the foreground, the Event List (Views > Event List) and the Edit Filter (Edit > Select > By Filter).  I have selected the entire contents of multiple MIDI tracks, and all the notes are visible in the Event List display.

If I define a filter in Edit Filter, as either an inclusive set (Include: Note, Min Duration=1, Max Duration=200) or an exclusive set (Include: Note, "exc" box checked, Min Duration=200, Max Duration=20000), and click OK, the Edit Filter window immediately closes, but the contents of the Event List display remain unchanged (even if I close it and reopen it).  If I look at PRV, I can see that the relevant notes are highlighted, but that doesn't help me much; I need to see a compact list.

If I open the Event List "Event Manager" panel, it only allows filtration by classes of event (e.g., "Note"), which is too broad for this need.

How it ought to work, IMHO, is a filter is declared in Edit Filter and the filter is immediately applied in real time to the contents of the Event List.

Any assistance appreciated.

The select by filter will select the data you select, and then close. The data is still selected, even though everything looks the same. The event list won't reflect data that is only selected. You might try cloning the track and then using the select by filter to select everything BUT the data you want to look at, and then deleting the selected data. That would leave only the events that you want.

Thank for the reply; that's a bit more trouble than I'd prefer - I have 6 MIDI tracks, so I'd have to create the temp track, select the 6, copy the 6 and 'paste to one track', do the filter selection, delete the non-qualifying data from the temp track (careful!), point Event List at the temp track, review what's left, and finally delete the temp track when I'm done.

I have noticed that setting an Edit Filter puts a black block next to qualifying events in the Event List, so that's a visual indication that helps somewhat, but enabling a true filter function on the Event List would be so much more succinct (or else implementing a "report" window that opens from the Edit Filter window to display qualifying events, thereby making the Edit Filter more of an interactive utility vs. simply a static filter definition panel).

Now I'm understanding why I couldn't remember how to get the filtered list I want - it can't be done without cloning and massaging...
