Custom Plugin layouts

Hi all

Can someone please try this for me....

With X2a make a Custom Plugin Layout using 3rd party plugins that did not come with X2x for example Waves plugs

I called my list Norrie loaded it in the browser then loaded it in the FX Bin and then in the FX Chain in the pro channel.

I can see the custom plugin list fine in the browser but not in the FX bin or the Fx Chain.....

All plugins that came with X2a can be seen but all 3rd party plugins vanish. ( All can be seen from the Browser not the FX bin or ProChannel though)

If I go back to default plugin layout then I can see them all but Its one huge list to then go through to find what I need each time.

Can anyone shed some light on why this could be happening as it is makiong things a nightmare to work with under console view as I then cant load the browser.

Are you saying you cannot see your custom plugin layout in the Plug-in Layouts section at the top of the Audio FX menus for the FX bin and FX chain or after selecting the layout, it does not display?

    Hi Scook.

After selecting the layout, it does not display in the FX bin and FX chain only on the browser.

I have checked and checked again that I have it selected in all 3 locations it will not show any 3rd party plugins.

    Hey Norrie...

Open Windows Explorer and type %appdata% in the address bar. This should take you to the AppData > Roaming folder on your C drive. Double-click the following folders... Cakewalk > SONAR X2 Producer > Plug-in Menu Layouts. Do you see your custom layout as a PGL file in that folder?

If yes, right-click it and choose Open. Windows will ask you to find a program to open it with... choose Windows Notepad. A PGL file is just a basic XML 1.0 file type, so it's just text. When you open the file, do you see your 3rd-party plug-ins included in the XML code?

If yes, then that's as it should be and something else weird is going on with SONAR, but I'm not sure what.

It looks like the "X2 Producer Effects" layout. I just modified that one rather than creating my own. You might want to scan the registry. I believe the absolute paths for the current layout is stored there, if different than the default.

I wish I could help Norrie, but I'm not sure why that's happening. I haven't seen the problem here.

Norrie, when you save your custom layout, do you realize there are two name fields, one is the name that shows up in the list and the other is the actual filename that it is saved as?

@ Scook - Thats what I did i modified the default layout. I find that the quickest way :)

@ Scott - Thanks for taking a look I have no idea why its happening as this is the way I have always done it.

@ Gustabo - Thanks man its not a issue with finding the lay out though... in the images above you will see I can load and see the custom layout in the browser no problem but not in the FX-Bin or ProChannel even though I have seletced the same layout as the browser.

I have no clue why this is the way it is.

just a question ...  have you compressed the folders where the plugin layouts are stored??

For some reason sonar cant see certain compressed files..

I have not. Sonar can see it in the browser but no where else as you will see in the screen shots above.

    Hey Norrie,

I hope all is going well with you!

This issue keeps hitting my inbox from several different sources, but nobody on my team has been able to replicate what you're seeing. Do you have a copy of your .pgl file (as Scott indicated above) that we could take a look at?
