Slick...

as in fretless.
I was reading what the luthier had to say that worked on this idea @10 yrs ago.
They used glass and/or mirror. It's just stuck on...well it's glass.
Notice the nut...it's also flat.
Thought you may enjoy it and his music. :)

Back in the 90's my son constructed a fretless 6 string.

Sadly it was stolen last year.

    That one looks really cool.

Some folks may be aware that highlander banjo was traditionally fret less.

I tried playing one once. Yikes.

I like this video because the slide sounds smooth:

I also really liked his tree house video... that was super cool.

Sure enough sorry to hear that it was stolen Bapu.

I vaguely remember Chet Atkins playing a fretless and
I didn't care for the sound.

Since learning of using glass for fretboard it made me wonder...
I know there are fretless boards with and without fret markers but
until now I've never given thought about the side position dots/markers and
wonder if they are located as fretted boards or in fret location. Guessing I'd
    say probably both.
Off hand I'd  want "normal" side dot location.
    Sorry... a boring topic anyway.

Slick … Oh, sorry, thought we were playing word association.

Very cool looking guitar.  Somebody should figure out how the make a neck using that top secret active camouflage technology.  Then it would look like you are just fretting air.

I wish they'd figure out how to make flooring using that top secret active camouflage technology.
Then it would look like people were walking on air...and not use beautiful tonewoods for stupid things
by....nevermind. I forgot for a second that I was still on planet Earth.

Maybe you could have fret lines under the glass fretboard that show through?

I think you may be misunderstanding or confused...
I've never owned a fretless nor played one so I was wondering about the SIDE DOT
location on the ones that didn't have the fret location indicated.
After reading a bit it seems that some like them placed at fret location and some
like them placed the same as if it were a fretted board.

I'm always confused, but I did understand.  I was just curious if you could put fret lines under the glass and they would show through.

I guess so. Nothing new about painting anything on a
fretboard- been doing that on steel guitars for decades...clear plastic
or whatever. Of course they have a different perspective than a bass
or guitar player and the reason I believe the side dot location to be
of more importance to function rather than aesthetics which I personally
believe is the only value of "fake" frets on a bass or guitar and IMO is
much like a violin, cello etc. having them painted on or more so, why they don't.

So, I still guess so...if that is what looks good to you.

I changed my mind and believe instead of my initial thought that side dots
should be in the conventional location I think that I'd prefer them to be at
exact fret location whether or not there may be indicators on the fretboard....and
really the only thing I got out of hearing about the glass/mirror fretless...but that's
    something! lol
