Apply Effects, Bouncing, Exporting SE plugins & High SR
I don't work at high sampling rates, but today I wanted to test some plugins at 96. To my surprise, using "apply effects" for a track at 96KHz, it created either a garbled/warped version or some other deviation from the original sound. At first I thought it was a particular plugin but I tested others and same thing. I also tested in different projects and same results - in fact same exact results. Has anybody used apply effects at high rates such as 96 and experienced this? Export however sounds perfectly fine. Possible bug? Sonar X2 x64 Win 7 x64 i7 3930K (by ADK) X2 has been fantastic otherwise. Update: Okay, when I went back to test more, I realized the common thread is these were all synthedit plugins. I just wanted to have some fun with them and compare, etc., and bam - this lol. Well, I was never against SE plugins, always gave one a chance. But damn, these are showing their true colors huh. On top of that, exporting isn't good either so needless to say they are not usable on this system at higher rates (48 is probably okay though but who knows, I didn't test at 48 yet). If anybody still wants to test their system that would be cool to compare.

You may have to bounce those effect and not use apply effects for some non native plugins.

Further testing shows that rendering, bouncing or exporting, the SE plugins do not behave correctly. I've also posted for Herbert at VOS because although his plugins are not really SE I believe SE is used for some part of it. So it seems SE or any plugin associated with it do not function properly at 96 or 88. Non SE plugins worked fine at any sample rate. Edit: updated the title to reflect the issue

Herbert informed me that VOS plugins use S|M or Flowstone framework, not SynthEdit. So now that, that is clear, SE plugins and Flowstone related plugins exhibit this behavior in X2 x64 at higher sample rates. Just tried the Reaper demo and the SE and VOS plugins all behaved as they should at all sample rates. So it must be Sonar and how it interacts with SE or Flowstone at higher SR. If I can have at least one more confirmation by another user, I will write to tech support.

Have you tired a slow bounce? This is when fast bounce is not active.

Hi John, yep they work okay without "fast bounce" checked off. I'm curious now as to why they misbehave with fast bounce/export/render.

Some plugins can't handle fast bounce. This is why CW has both.

This is not a Sonar problem. Some Non Native plugins where not coded to do well in fast bounce. you will have to contact that plugins manufacture and tell them your concerns. Maybe they will update those plugin effects that do not like fast bounce Cj

I doubt they'll update the plugins. I've already contacted one and he doesn't seem to be all that interested haha. So, just for my own curiousity, my question is do other DAW's then not implement a kind of fast bounce? Reaper for example seemed very fast on the render. And the plugins worked fine there.

Some do some don't. Sonar was one of the first to offer fast bounce.

Yea, oh well. I let them know, what they now want to do with the information is up to them. If they don't care, then okay

Anything that uses real time processing needs a slow (listen) bounce. My TC Konnekt interface hardware DSP will only do it that way as far as I can tell. @

And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
