One Autosave Folder?

hey all.. so I am getting a bit annoyed at this.

Is there a way to make one global autosave folder or somehow make autosave files hidden? I hate when you are in a folder for, say, a particular artist and you have to scroll by 13 autosave files to get to the original project files, or when you are trying to find something by date in your main projects folder the names are broken up intermittently with autosaves...

any tips here? (please don't scold me that this is a "small price to pay for your backups", it seems very sloppy to me.. i would rather have a subfolder called "autosaves" at least if not a global folder.

The only suggestion I could offer is to create a more complex directory structure to reduce the number of project files in a directory.

At this time, setting the hidden bit on autosave files will cause SONAR to fail. Since there is no requirement for unique project names, they way autosave files are named could cause files to be lost if the autosaves were consolidated into a single directory.

i see. yeah.. I just don't see the point in having more than one folder for say an artist's album.. but even 6 tracks can get messy with autosave.. im gonna take my chances for a while i guess. I prefer clean, plus i have a really good ctrl+s habit.

Directories are cheap and easy for keeping stuff organized. For me a project directory can only contain one track. Each track always has multiple project files, at least one for raw takes and at least one mix. There might even be multiple project directories for the same track. There is also no way I would work without autosave or versioning but everyone has their own way of working with SONAR and they all have different issues.

I've been thinking about running a file copy/management tool (such as the excellent Vice Versa) to locate all the auto-save and backup files and move them to a separate folder -- maybe schedule it to run nightly. I agree it can become a real nuisance to see all those files in the project's folder
