Start recording at a specific time.

Hi All:

I wasn't able to find this in the Sonar Menu options but say I have a 4 minute piece. And at a certain point in the waveform I want to rerecord but I want to start playback a few seconds before then to get the correct tempo. Ideally I would like to set some sort of marker indicating that at this point in time start the recording. I know I can just achieve this by jut creating another track, recording, and then merging it with the existing but I believe there must be s way to do this on the same track.
Is this possible?

Ahh nevemind. Looks like Sonar is pretty smart. I can't start saying to record before the point where I actually want to, and Sonar doesn't replace the portion of the existing track but just layers over it. That's cool!

You do not indicate what version of SONAR you  are working with but that is one of the reasons for using take lanes/layers. You can use Punch-ins but I find it easier to just record more takes with a loop set than messing with setting up punch points.

Thanks for the quick response scook. It looks like in my preferences I am already using layers that's why it was working that way. The punch-ins thing is intriguing, I'll have try using it sometime
