11 hours of straight recording..by mistake

Since every so often I've been complaining I figure I could share a "little" explerience done by "mistake"
wish shows a positive side of X2:

Just before dinner last night I started something of the web (ok...ok...youtube ) and and went away for
dinner knowing I had 2 hours to go before stopping wverything.

Well...the Stanley Cup game (hockey for those who don't know) was on last night and I totally forgot the recording
until this morning..aaah!!!

Well I've just stopped it....I now have an 11 hours of 24Bits/48Khz stereo file on my drive.

Ok I have a large audio drive, W7 (and my PC) is very stable but in end X2 survived. I know it's supposed to but
I'm one to beleive that they've lost stability since they have dropped 8.5 so I think it's nice to "present" a positive
view and since I have no problem laughing at myself.

Cheers!

Mario

P.S.   First time experiencing the new newsgroup format on a pc (I normally login using my ipad) and...well..it's
         a little werid isn't it?

Sonar will record and save 1,000,000 hours, if your hard drive is big enough to store the data. 11 hours is a drop in a bucked, as that about 13 albums of music.

In this scenario what happens when you run out of disk space? Does Sonar have a failsafe to automatically stop recording? Does windows crash? I know on my old system Nuendo start throwing warnings I was running out of disk space but I just stopped adding audio at that point.

How many simultaneous tracks? I find that if I go over about 18 tracks at 96Khz, my machine needs more buffering or I'll get drop-outs. I have a really fast machine with known good hardware/drivers, etc.

11 hours constant is better than 30 seconds of recording then crash-reboot, 45 seconds of recording then crash-reboot, 2 Min and 10 sec of recording then crash-reboot, 5 sec of recording then crash-reboot...etc....
I'd feel much better about the stabaility of my system if it ran that long without a hiccup.

Bandlab Platinum and every other toy I can get my hands on...and yes I'm way in debt over this obsession...
