    u know,  i routinely add room mics, and/or verb to my kick tracks,
     
    it's mostly subtle.....
     
    but sometimes it's really big and obvious
     
    i never say never

    levee breaks, has always tempered that choice, i heard that decades ago, and knew, even as i listened to ultra dry bernard purdie kick tracks on steely dan tunes, that i preferred more natural acoustics in big rooms, over super personal and unnaturally dry kicks

    "Raising Sand", check out this album with Robert Plant. Lots of ambiance on the kick.
