Global Warming! (ya, right!)
... more like global disintegration. The whole country's on fire today. 128 in Death Valley! It will meet or beet it's own record for June. July saw 134 in 1913 so I'm sure they'll beat that one too. Better cancel my vacation plans. The weather is definitely on a yoyo pattern. This is the longest run of over 80 temps on record here. After a colder than normal winter, June hit the ground running with mid 80s temps. It hit 93 yesterday and the forecast says high 80s all week yet with little to no rain either. I just moved my sleeping quarters to ground level. When that wont work I'll be sleeping in the car with the AC on! What I would do for a basement about now! Sure enough, those wild fires are getting out of control too and we're gonna see the dreaded smoke layer shortly. A few summers ago it was so bad people were getting sick and I wanted to move. Yup! now who's the WIMP!

We had a very cool spring.... I was kinda glad to see it warm up here. The first day of summer was more like the first day of spring.... low 80's and low humidity..... I'm not complaining..... I like it cool. It's all about natural cycles. up, down, round and round.

batsbrew nope, the earth is flat.

it`s here all right. the last 3 weeks have been between -2 and 10 C,frosty mornings and beautiful blue skies when it should be grey and raining. the upside is I`m averaging 5.5kwh per day from the solar as whilst the sun is at furtherest distance it is at the perfect angle for the panels. the downside is that I have to handwater the vegies-the frost draws the moisture from the ground and the studio is a mess and I`m way behind mixing down as it is impossible to be inside when it is so cold but the sky is so blue and the air tastes like chyrstals. Ironically, after a record breaking 10 year drought we had the wettest year on record and the poor old gums threw out too much canopy expecting more rain and it hasn`t come so they are dying off and falling like flies and I spent yesterday burning off what I couldn`t salvage. if I was a proper greenie I would have left them as fuel for next summers bushfires and let nature take it`s course? it is all very well for individuals to try to reduce their carbon footprint but when you see our neighbour,Asia, choking on the fires from illegal logging you have to question whether your individual sacrifices to be self reliant and "green' are effective or just another lifestyle choice. sometimes I just want to trade the old diesel HiLux in for a F350 Raptor and say to hell with it. but I probably wont. PS:is it easier to get warm or stay cool?

I`m confused-cool used to mean cool but now if someone is "hot" they are cool too. but then, anything is better than being groovy I suppose.

105 on friday, 105 on saturday, 105 on sunday, all records. all time records. and i was outside in it on saturday and sunday, doing 'hell week' for the falcon watch crew tracking the fledgling peregrine at temple square (been doing it since 2006) and man, to stand outside for 12 hours in 105 degree heat?!! ugh. had to be done.

I had such high hopes when they released peregrine falcons in Chicago. They told us the majestic predators would nest among the tall buildings and would help to control the pigeon infestation. I was excited about the prospect of seeing an elderly person sitting on a bench and feeding the pigeons suddenly covered in feathers and pigeon parts as a falcon tore through the flock. Of course, I also figured this would eventually lead to a further imbalance in the ecosystem as the falcons turned on the humans. I couldn't wait to see what we would release into our environment next. (Flying Piranha? Pteranodons? Dragons?) (Must stop watching SyFy channel...) Sadly, there was no pigeon carnage. It turns out that falcons have more self-respect than that. I'm wondering if we should rethink that decsion to cancel the dragon option.
