dubdisciple I ended up getting Entangled Species for String Studio. String Studio is one of those synths that is so amazing that few knew what to do with it. I got Journeys last time and neither dissapoints. Just wish there were more available banks or that i had the dedication to make the lush modeled sounds this VST is capable of. Great sound design stuff here.
"Dreamstate" from Electric-Himalaya is an awesome soundbank if you have the full synth - Probably the best soundset I've ever heard for String Studio (12 Euros = $16) - http://www.electric-himalaya.com/stringstudio_sound_bank.html(If you have Tassman 4, his "Electronic Toolkit" is unbelievable as well). Raphael also does a number of soundbanks for Alchemy that are equally as excellent. (Edit - After my whinging earlier I too burned the 0.5 calories it took to send an email to AAS, and about 12 hours later have downloaded "Oh My Funkness" for my Strum Electric. Great service.)

I haven't used String Studio in years and now, I'm re-motivated. Just got Analog Essentials. :)

I picked up Analog Essentials this time. I'm now a recipient of two of these including the Content Club previous one. I like these and now feel predisposed to actually buying another one from the AAS set since they are quite nice to have.
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Managed to pick up journeys after emailing them about not getting an initial email. They responded and sent me the link to get download and serial number. Good customer services, nice to see!

I second that! I also picked up "Journeys" after e-mailing them. Got a quick, helpful reply from customer service, too. Also, Chromaphone is currently on sale for $99. Looks like a good deal if you need a modeling synth specializing in percussive sounds. Steve

I just got an email from AAS that they have a new soundset for Chromaphone - Microsound Textures - $19 limited time. I purchased and it is outstanding. Really great for anyone looking for unusual sounds/textures (duh) out of Chromaphone. Also - they have extended their 15th anniversary sale - and have all of their Pro instruments on sale now for $89 - (I think for current customers. Not sure.) Anyway couldn't help myself and bought Strum acoustic. I picked up Strum Electric in a no-brainer deal a while back so couldn't resist. Surprising how versatile these are. I now own all AAS instruments (except have the Session version of Lounge Lizard - ready to fold like a bad card table on that one too!). Now I have to explain to my wife about all the money I am saving. Sales!

Good for you Brando!! I also got their newsletter and thought about Chromaphone.......I just couldn't do this to the good lady after I managed to get everything I wanted for in my new build. I have to say this though, the customer service at AAS is extremely good. I couldn't find the installer for String Studio on my old system and emailed them to request a new one. The very same evening, they sent a link back + the authorisation info to me to do my install. Very efficient and prompt!!

Thanks Mesh! Yes - AAS are very good and responsive. One of the best in that respect I think. How's the new DAW? I followed your build through your posts. Sounds awesome. I haven't got the fortitude to go through what you did - my old machine is soldiering on and I don't find it limiting at all for what I do.

I'm still loading all my VST's/software/plugins, but X2 is delightfully responsive in the limited use I've had with it. I feel (I think the word is) liberated with this new DAW. Just the instantaneous response when clicking the mouse is simply amazing to me (I've still not got used to this kind of speed :))...... Having an SSD for an OS drive is just priceless and my sys boots up in something like 9 secs..........no more hourglass. So, yes I'm very happy. I didn't thnk it took much fortitude at all to make this move...........just needed the funds. With a bit of research and organisation, it actually was quite easy, and very satisfying in getting it done by yourself (also got a lot of help from the good folks in here)......go for it I say!!!!

Hey Mesh - I have thought about it. But my old Quad is running fine and I don't need the upgrade. What I meant by fortitude is based from the thought of having to find all my authorizations, the current installers, re-installing, re-authorizing. Yuck. Of course, if not needing something stopped me I'd have 10% of the plugins I currently do. LOL
