Album Creation and Audio Conversion
Folks - I have finished recording a collection of songs and now need to assemble them on a CD so that they flow together, have the correct amount of time between songs etc.
I also need to be able to convert single songs to MP3 MP4 etc. in order to sell singles online. (Thinking positively here lol).
What program(s) does everyone use of these tasks? Tried to search the forums but didn't find anything germane.
Thanks!

CD Architect FWIW, there is no requirement to have a period of silence between songs only at the beginning.

garrigus Cakewalk also has their own CD burning software available, but I haven't used the latest version. Scott

Are you referring to Pyro Audio Creator? I snagged that when they gave us the $20 coupon. I'm hoping it will do all that fancy redbook stuff. I haven't really tinkered with it yet though and frankly I need to really read up on redbook standards and how they work. I was little surprised Sonar couldn't do that stuff itself. Oh well.

Yep, that's the one. I believe it does Redbook burning. Check out the docs and it will probably say. Scott -- Scott R. Yeah, I'm a dumbass. Thinking back now that is actually why a snagged it as well as the MP3 capability and the fact the current version of WMP is a turd compared to older versions IMO... which weren't all that great to begin with. Cheers, guys. Just having a brainfart.

You can burn CD from inside Sonar 7 easily, Cakewalk vid on youtube -> How to rip and burn CDs in SONAR 7 basically just go to 'Tools' in menubar and choose 'Burn audio CD'. free audio to mp3 converter on website : free-mp3-wma-converter.soft32.com free converter to MP4 etc on website : freemake.com (choose the converter then). (cannot copy links here unfortunately) good luck

I use Power2Go. if I burn a CD. Be sure to save the MP3's at 192 or higher. Any CD burner will space the songs properly, and some allow you to choose the space amounts. Also when converting from wav to MP3 or exporting use Triangular dither. A MP3 will never be as good as the 24 or 32 bit wav file. I believe store bought CD's are 128, 16 bits, but "they are audio CD's", not data disc. But I have found that saving wavs in Sonar as 256 or even 320 makes a big difference in the sound quality. CD's will soon be obsolete anyway...Also, there are some good articles out there about arranging the order of songs for a good CD. Check it out.

I do all of my spacing/segues inside Sonar on my "Album" project. This long wav is then exported @16/44.1 into Sony CD Architect. It's really easy to set new track markers. The individual CD wavs I then use for MP3 conversion (when I have to!)

CD Architect/Sound forge is a great combo. Pyro is quick, tho it has messed up MS Word on several computers, so be warned. Still, if you have the money CDA is what many pros use. Sound Forge is available as a "studio" version w/o all the effects and is cheap. A couple of weeks ago the entire studio collection (including vegas video editing w/o effects) was available for sub $100. My full versions have paid for themselves many times over, are easy to use and still as deep as necessary. Get what you can, you won't be disappointed. @

I thought even Windows Media Player allows for a check box for gap/gapless burns. Bob Bone

I like CD Architect because it has many options to choose from and I believe there is a free trial on that from sony. it leaves the intervals of 3 or 5 seconds, has some effects, different formats, exc. look into it.

Beep, I don't know what it does exactly, but it has done it to 2 differenty computers. I guess it has some compatiblilty since you can use word for songs labels etc. or maybe it is my old word (2004). But when I open Word it sez it needs to install Word and asks for the CD. I just click through and then cancel once it can't find the CD (and yea, I've inserted #1 CD which doesn't help). After cancel word will open if I have tried to open a word file tho it takes a minute or so to grind through the process. If I just try to open word it doesn't open w/o a word file. @
