When I count off quarter notes I count, "One, Two, Three, Four" When I count off eight notes I count, "One and Two and Three and Four and." When I count off sixteenth notes I count, "One ee & uh, Two ee & uh, Three ee & uh, Four ee & uh" How should I count thirty second notes? How about eight notes in 6/8 time? "One and two, three and four" ? or "ONE two three FOUR five six"?

I want kitchens, not refers... And thank you Scott for the tips, though I don't use quantizing anymore. The Snap feature has all but eliminated the need for it, for me anyway. Besides, it messes with my out-of-sync style too much.

Dude, I have been using Sonar/Cakewalk since there was such a thing and never knew this. This is actually a pretty big deal—thanks. In addition to quantizing 64th and other smaller notes, this would be excellent for creating glissandos or other effects. For example, if you have a resolution of 120 and want a note every 5 ticks, this trick would be perfect. Thanks.

Neither of the links work for me, tried a few hours ago and again now. Are they blocked from UK access Scott?

In addition to quantizing 64th and other smaller notes, this would be excellent for creating glissandos or other effects. For example, if you have a resolution of 120 and want a note every 5 ticks, this trick would be perfect. You can still do some of that in the Step Sequencer [Convert MIDI Clip(s) to Step Sequencer], but it used to be a lot more versatile [page 7 of Stupid Step Sequencer Tricks in Sonar 7.2]. Now - instead of crashing outside a range of 1-960 ticks - X2 limits the available range from 60-960 ticks. If you go anywhere outside that range (higher or lower), Sonar tells you that you really meant to enter a 1/16th note.
