What is the difference between MC LE and MC6 ?

I am thinking about going to MC6 as I received MC LE for free when I bought a mike. Somewhere it said I was supposed to get MC6 but that didn't seem to happen.
I am wondering if it is that much different. I am still trying to figure out all of LE.

Nope...LE versions are very limited (LE=limited edition?)  just enough features working to let you get a decent start with the very basics of a digital recording platform.

MC6 is part of the Music Creator family and is itself considered to be a "beginners" platform, and MC6LE is even more limited.

They give the LE versions away so you can use your mic.... HOWEVER..... the mic, I'll bet is a USB mic, is it not?

Lets see how that goes for you before we make any other comments on the USB side of the topic.

All that aside.... it is possible to use a USB mic with LE. Understand that LE is just the very barest of working components for a DAW...... but it is generally enough to get you up and running.  So yes, LE is a totally functional DAW, with the bells and whistles in the more advanced versions shut off...... I have never had the LE version so I don't know what they shut off..... I do have MC4,5,&6 and they all rock for what they are. I recorded many of the songs on my songs page...especially the ones on page 2 & 3 with MC4

    Welcome to the forum.
The biggest difference most folks will encounter is the limits on tracks and effects and software synthesizers.
Music Creator 6 is also limited in those respects, so if you think you may be recording a live band or full orchestra, you'll want to go with one of the X 1 programs.
All of the MCs are limited to recording 2 simultaneous inputs.

Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.
    Everything is better with pie.

I bought Music Creator 6 last night and downoaded it.
I am just playing around right now with an old keyboard and the microphine I bought.
(I bought the microphone to record on Audacity. I am reading books there for librivox.) It is a USB mic.
I am putting in one track at a time with the keyboard and then syncing them to make a song.
The biggest thing I am trying to do it get my 9 year old son interested in them. He loves music and would really get into it if he gets interested.
BTW. What is DAW? I am entirely new to all of this.
Thanks for all your help so far.

After trying to figure out how to use MC6 I noticed a copy of Mixcraft 6 on my computer that had not been opened. Iinstalled it AND the MANUAL for a two week trial. I have been using that one since.
     Thanks. Ken

A comparison chart that describes the differences between Music Creator 6 and Music Creator 6 LE is in the MC6 help file.

MC6 allows 32 audio tracks while MC6 LE allows 16.

MC6 allows 128 midi tracks while MC6 LE allows 64.

MC6 allows import and export of video files while MC6 LE allows only video file import.

MC6 LE does not offer the matrix view, guitar tab, guitar fretboard pane, integrated audio CD rip/burn, or Soundcloud integration.

MC6 LE does not have the multivoice chorus/flanger audio plug-in.

MC6 LE does not have the TTS-1 virtual sound module or Studio Instrument Drums

Finally, MC6 LE does not have the MIDI groove clips, tutorial projects or artist demo projects.
