Roscoe - The Amazing Pig

You don't have to go far around the Pacific Northwest and you find yourself in farm country.  As I was driving over the weekend I passed a farm with a pig sitting out front.  Not a big deal usually, except this pig had a wooden leg, so I figured there had to be a good story behind this!  I stopped and walked up to the farmer who was mending a fence and asked him what the deal was with the pig and his wooden leg.

"Well, " drawled the farmer, "That there is Roscoe, one amazing pig!  A couple of weeks ago the barn caught on fire and Roscoe ran from stall to stall banging on the gate handles to open them up so our livestock could escape.  Then he ran over to the house and banged on the door to wake me and the wife up.  Thanks to him I was able to call the Fire Department and save the house and most of the barn."

"Wow, " I exclaimed, "That IS amazing!  But how did he get the wooden leg?  Did he hurt himself banging on all those gates and doors?"

"Nah, " said the farmer, "It's just that a pig that amazing can't be eaten all at once."

After a 500 pound hog steps on your foot, your concern for the animal's happiness is somewhat diminished.  On the other hand, the becan tastes especially good.

This place has gotten so boring that I have to put other things in my replies for people to find.
