X2: Make it so left clicking a clip selects that clip's track?

I'm doing lots of copying and pasting of short clips and every time I get ready to work with a clip in another track, I (logically) click the clip, hit CTRL+C, click where I want it, and hit CTRL+V, but the event goes to the last track that had been selected. The need to click track strip seems pointless if I've clicked a clip in that track's timeline, is there a way to change this or get around it really easily? It is annoying and a waste of time.

(I have noticed RIGHT clicking will select the clip AND the track, but this isn't very practical since it brings up the menu and so requires another click to make it go away)

It's probably a lot easier to copy and paste clips by holding CTRL while you drag the copy to where you want it (remembering to keep CTRL held until you've let go of the clip).

+1    I use Crtl+drag whenever the clip's original and destination positions are within the current zoom level, or at least a nudge or two away.   I just find it simpler.   Only when I have to paste something way out of my current zoom level do I use Copy and Paste.

Edit: Or when I have lots of clips to copy.

The way track selection and track focus is implemented in Sonar makes it so that it's essential for proper workflow that selecting a clip does not select a track, only focus. Feels weird at first, but it starts to make a sense eventually. Bit annoying for when you have to paste special though, indeed.

sharke and Steve, great advice, that is a lot easier, and while it doesn't give me the exact solution I was looking for, it does help me avoid the issue I was having.

@spence, thanks for the reply, you sound pretty knowledgeable, would you know IF there is a way to change that? I fail to see how the way it works now is more advantageous, but I have come across several times when the way I'd like it would be more advantageous for me.

one example would be when, in a mixing session, you have a bunch of tracks quick-grouped through selection, you can still move and edit clips around in other tracks without undoing your selection. I don't think this behaviour can be modified. However, you can select the currently focused track by pressing comma.

Spencer, thanks again for replying. I have yet to need to use grouping, but perhaps you're right and one day I'll find a time when this behavior works better for me. I think it's all up to how each individual uses the software, which is why it would be best to be able to change, simply a box to tick that says "when clip is clicked, focus on that track". Also that coma trick doesn't help this issue, but might come in handy, thanks again.
