Anyone (still) using Sampletank successfully with X2a?
EZ Sounds currently has Sampletank 2.5 XL for $39.99 and expansion libraries for $15. This seems like a good deal for a lot of samples. Assuming the quality is there and that it works well with X2a. I think it's still 32bit so BitBridge is a factor...

Yes - it 32 bit and has not been updated in ages. It works for me (bitbridge) but others have reported issues. While the samples are not cutting edge a lot of them sound good and are really useful. IK keep saying Sampletank 3 will be released "soon" but it seems to be taking a long long time. Sampletank 2 libraries will be compatable with the new version apparently.

I get this whenever I load any of the old IK vsti's This is on my x64 and x32 rigs. Maybe I didn't do the vst re-set procedure correctly when I installed x2a. I use it so infrequently I haven't really sussed it out. Works fine in X1, check that X1x32, I'd have to check on X1x64 in the studio. Its on "sale" for a reason... Tom

Great, thanks guys. I think I'll pass on this one based on 32bit-ness and a potential for problems. There are also sales happening at Sonivox and AAS.

If you're thinking about Sampletank acquisition in the longterm, picking up 2.5 at a bargain price may be cost effective as an upgrade path to 3.0, even if you never install it.

"picking up 2.5 at a bargain price may be cost effective as an upgrade path to 3.0" I was thinking the same thing, but ST3 has been "on the horizon" for a long time now. And what will the upgrade path cost? The operative term here is "may" be cost effective. Its a crap shoot... T

Obi seems to be a pretty careful guy to me. I've seen him say that ST3 is coming...but lately he says its coming this year. Pretty sure he gets his cue from the big dogs at IK, and also pretty sure they understand what happens if they miss this kind of self imposed deadline by any wide margin. I have quite a bit of IK software, and it does what it claims to do on a stable basis. I would be greatly surprised if ST3 wasn't released by 2/2014 at the very latest, and frankly...the bargain blowouts on ST2.5 warn me that release of ST3 will be sooner than that...call it a back to school sale. Need time for the blowout price to squeeze the last few $ available in ST2.5. On upgrade paths and cost savings...Take a look at IKs current offerings and upgrade savings. I haven't, but trends ought to be apparant. I'd look at how consistent upgrade savings are across the product spectrum. Do percentages vary widely or are they spot on a set percentage for all IK products? A phone phreak who works for Verizon told me he'd be very surprised if Googledroid wasn't working on and over the hump with Android audio issues, and furthermore, that if true, they would be lining up software vendors with programming hooks and betas, and that companies like IK likely have many lines of code already on well secured IK hard drives for a flurry of Android DAW software...along with death penalties, or worse, for any employees who spill da beanz before the seventh floor decides when to...leak...the news. I've stayed outta the iK storms....its their company, what they sold me works, they haven't promised me anything they haven't delivered, and I sure don't know enoughto comment on, or have any skin in their business planning. That's said...Ima feel way butthurt if Ik doesn't throw us wrong side of the tracks Droids a bone or two after the lavish feast they've spread on the Apple worms. That's right...I said worms. GET back!

Anyone (still) using Sampletank successfully with X2a Nope. I can't STAND the pathetically small GUI which after re-skinning, goes from semi-legible to squint city

I have been counting the days until ST3 will be released. As much as love counting I don't think I can count on IK to release it on a count of it's been a very long time in the works. Though, I keep counting for it is what I love, counting! I stopped using Sampletank a long time ago. Since I went 64bit, I have had nothing but problems running it. Hopefully, they will release ST3 soon. Can we count on that?

I use it all the time...works great for me. I even use it live in my Van Halen tribute band as the Oberheim sounds are so authentic, it makes the hair on my arms stand. :) -Danny

FWIW I have not had any issues running ST 2.5. Even with up to 12 separate parts running into it. But I do find the main view really difficult to see. But I think this is an issue with the VST 2 standard, yes? At least, all my VSTi's seem to suffer the same affliction. I thought I read somewhere that this is fixed with VST 3 standard???

For those of us who have trouble seeing the tiny, itty, bitty screen, it is helpful to use the Windows Maginfer tool as a workaround. I have vision trouble [vintage eyes] and the ST2.5 (and most of the IKM synths) cause me trouble because of their tiny fonts and GUI. A couple of years ago Bitflipper suggested the use of the Windows Magnifer as a way of helping us use ST2.5 while we await the long anticipated ST3. Using the Windows Magnifer has made using ST2.5 more manageable during the wait.

Yeah cool tip that...another one is to run Windows in lower res while using it...around 1024x768 maybve a couple above that. This also increases the view size too :) Roll on MP3 is all I can say. :)

I have stopped using SampleTank (or other IK softsynth) lately, as any Sonar project containing it tends to crash when closing the project. The problem started after I migrated from XP to W7-64, and is not specific to X2a.
