fake passports subscription notice
Why did I get a subscription notice from that fake passport spam post? Maybe Cake should look into this. Paul

I should only get notices from threads to which I've posted.

I see that the 'Fake Passports" post has now been taken down. That's good but I'd still like to know how it was able to target me? I was not on the forums and I most certainly did not post a reply to that thread. Paul

There was a fake passport post recently removed from the sticky VXFX notice above that has a post of yours. Could that have been the source of the notice?

The spammer posted here: http://forum.cakewalk.com...-m2851150.aspx#2859241Which you're subscribed to. I checked the email task log and that's exactly what was sent, a subscription notice. Unfortunately the system "worked" as it should, resulting in spam in your inbox :/

Yep, that could well be it. Thanks. I saw the one in the main X1 - X2 forum and assumed that it was the culprit. I changed my password just to be safe.

Thanks Ryan. Too bad I'm not in the market for a fake passport.

Howling with laughter. This is the only net site I visit where spam is listed as "operating as designed". It's just funny that designed behaviour is the default response. Enjoy the weekend Ryan.

Lol well that's why I put it in quotes. :) I think you're missing my point though. I received a PM last week about someone else concerned the spammers were spoofing our email servers, stealing emails, etc. I'm just pointing out that the it was simply a subscription notification, not some hack (despite these spammers claims of being such great hackers) *facepalm* Anyhow, I/we can't control the content of what people type unfortunately.

The site does all the time with the banned word list. It would not be that difficult to create a regular expression that would trap most if not all of the fake documents and the other common spammers here.
