Thanks for posting the numbers. If you mainly work with 44.1kHz audio, then there is no real need to go to a higher sampling rate, i.e. 48kHz, 96kHz, etc. IMO, for all practical, stereo and human-musical purposes, 44.1kHz is high enough. Rather than start a huge debate, I'll just leave it at that!
However, I must use 48kHz because of my older analog-to-digital converter, the Alesis Ai3. For some reason it will not sync to the internal clock of 44.1k on the Focusrite, even though it is allegedly supposed to do it. Instead, it must sync to 48k and ADAT. So what's the difference? Not much except for more samples per second, which translates into a few more megabytes per minute of audio.
Like I mentioned before, if I go any lower than my current values, I seem to see more "white out" crashes, even when doing normal and habitual things like turn on/off plugins, consoles, etc. while the audio is playing. Sorry, but that's how I work, and it needs to work with me!
