I like the feel and guitar part at the first part.  When the distorted guitar comes in and the drums go distorted, seems like too much distortion and not enough contrast.  The solo part at the end seems too short!  That feel was really good.

    Hey !
Glad u liked the feel of the track.  The middle part I've struggled with.I wanted something to pick the track up so I opted for eights in the guitar line and applied a flange to the drums.Sure it might be too much on first listen :( I've come accustomed to it I think, through repeated listening, maybe.
The end solo does seem a bit abrupt I suppose, but it was tiring listening to the two guitars playing together, thats why I cut it short !!
    Thanks for listening

I thought this was pretty creative in sound and has a good vibe to it in general. The drums are just a bit over powering but the as you listen to some of my stuff, you can tell I like powerful drums, so they feel O.K. to me, but might not be for others. I liked this andyour mix was pretty good, but could use a tad of tweaking here and there. Might try a soft knee in the middle. Nice piece.

I like what you're going for here.  Combining modern "beats" and synth textures with great sounding rock guitar sounds.

Hi ! Thanks for your crits and ideas. Yes the drums are quite present,I agree. It was a bit of an all or nothing :) And yes like you do,I like the drums to be powerful..
For the middle,do you mean soft knee compression on the drums,or the master ?
    Many thanks for listening,

    Kev,

Cool song.   I like the rhythm track and choice of chords.   Guitar and Pads work well together.   Sounds odd when the drums drop out when the heavier, swirling guitar comes in.  You have the dramatic fill and then drop out the drums, when as a listener, I think they are going to get heavier.   If you keep the drums going I think that section would have more dimension.   I like it a lot though.  You could make it longer too;)

I really didn't like the flanged drums when they came in. I was expecting a lot of punch and it didn't have any. So as it comes out to me is that it lacks a climax, which sounds like it should have been there.

However, the song is kick ass! Besides the drums disappearing this is such a great tune that really sits well with my taste in music. The guitars and the non-flangered drums sounds great, nice touch with the strings and the vibe and mood of this piece is great!

    Well done

Man, what do you think of it? I hate to feel I'm dictating how it "should be". To me, this really fills it up and intensifies the drive of the song a lot. But So I hope you are happy with it too this way

    Kev,

Much better...except I would bring up the cymbals in that first climax section a tad.  They are barely audible and it seems something is missing without them... They are better the second time around.... Also don't hear a kick in that section??  Bring the thunder;)

Man, I can't find your link to your song! I don't know if it's this quirky forum or if I'm just an idiot.(probably the latter) Everyone else can apparently see it. I don't know. Well, just so you know, I wanted to listen to your song.

I agree the drums are a big improvement,I can really feel a lift in this section now, loads more energy !

For the mix,I need to hear it on my monitors as I was mixing on headphones last night. So cant comment as yet on the kick. But it was the crash and the cymbals that pulled me to use the loop, they seemed to work and blend in really well with the flange guitar. I'll take a fresh listen today, after work :-)

    Thks for your input

    Hi Kev,
This song has a great feel to it and is very creative.  I must be listening to a newer version from your initial post because the drum (even during the distorted part) sound. Good.
    Nice one!!!!

Very nice Kev. I liked the whole vibe/guitar/pad sounds and mix (listening through H-phones). (IMO) Instead of this ending abruptly, I thought it would impact more and have that lingering effect if it was faded out with the guitar part that started around 17 secs (the verse so to speak). This part just stuck in my head on the 1st listen, and kept lingering..........:))

Hey ! Nice to hear you liked the guitar part :) Yep I think the mix sorta of works too, now. Interesting you say about the guitar fading.I did try that on an earlier version and it does feel like a good end.I guess it's pretty logical with a track like this where the guitar is really the main element to start it and finish it alike.
    Thanks for listening !
