Setting up BFD2

I had a heck of a time getting BFD2  downloaded and installed ,But I finely thought I did it,,,I hate bothering strangers with my problems but well, I need the help.
I'm on win 7 64 bit with 6 gigs ram,,,Sonar X2 Producer,,,,
BFD2 seems to work alright in standalone but I really want to open it in Piano roll in sonar,,,I do the normal insert soft synth then I get this error message, ""Default MIDI Map(BFD2 Default Keymap)was not found-Please reinstall BFD2"" I hope I don't have to do that does anyone have any idea besides reinstalling that would fix this?,,,thank you for any ideas,

    Kaylen,

There is a folder in the FXpansion\system directory called "MAPS"
where all the keymaps are stored...

Make sure that's there and that it has the BFD.map file in it ..only thing I can think of....
someone else here may have more...otherwise you may have to reinstall...

Did you run the install as "Administrator"  if not then right click the "Setup" and select
"Run as administrator"....also, make sure you Sonar X1 is set to run as "Administrator"
to avoid problems with other VST's and VSTi's  as well...

There is a folder there called maps with about 40 files in it...I appreciate your input. I understand this may take me a while to figure out so I truly appreciate everyone's thoughts on where I can explore to figure this out

I'm stunned. that was it, Another question,,,in my list of soft synths only the 32 bit BFD2 is showing how would I get the 64 bit version to show up there? Once I am set up I will not bother you people with little function stuff but I am very appreciative of your help so far,,,, this is very exciting for me to get going on this ,even though I am just a hobby player I enjoy playing music immensely .thank you

Make sure you have X2 pointed to where ever you installed the 64 bit BFD VST in the Plugin Manager...and then re-scan the plugins
    with the Plugin Manager...

    BTW...mine is located in C:\Program Files\FXpansion\BFD

But you can put it where you want it when you install...

    Re: Setting up BFD2 2013/07/21 17:18:00 (permalink)
    Hi Kaylen
It might be that the BFD2 installer didn't pick up the cakewalk vst folder (C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins) during the install.
Re-installing only takes half a minute as you wont have t reinstall the data, just the program.

Do you have a "vst" folder in your program files ? Something like, C:\Program Files\Vst  or any Steinberg products that mean you have another vst folder ? If the answer is yes to either of those questions you could try and find the BFD2 dll file inside either folder and move it to cakewalk's vst folder, then run sonar's vst scan.

If that doesn't work then reinstall and pay particular attention to where the 64 bit installer wants to install and point it to
    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins.

    Hope that helps

thanks , I am not a wiz at this but with your help I  think I got it done. Steve and cclarry both of you helped a lot. there are other toys to play with but I never feel at ease until I get a program working. Its so much nicer to play with a program than to fiddle with getting set up

    You're not wrong there

I have a feeling you'll be wanting a lot more help with BFD2 as to anyone unfamiliar with mixing drums it can be a complicated and time consuming process as BFD2 gives you so many options. I found it very daunting at first and it just sat there for months before I really sat down and watched video's on youtube and started RTFMing
There is also BFD2 Explained by groove3 which covers pretty much every aspect of BFD2.
Here's a preview for you Working with grooves (BFD2 Explained)

P.S. The BFD2 forum is very good and the bakers are there most every day but a lot of threads go unanswered so you may want to post here as well if you're in need as there's a lot more traffic here and quite a few BFD2 users (end Eco) here too/

that looks interesting , I'll check into it. I have enough drum programs to keep me somewhat satisfied while I learn this one . Steve: I think you helped me over there at BFD forum but honestly this one has been more responsive,
