Crash in Console View!

Sonar X1 Producer Expanded is now crashing anytime I go to console view and try to do anything there. It was fine this weekend when I was initially mixing the project. I initiated the problem reporter. I also restarted the computer and nothing I can think of seems to help. Has this happened to anybody else? I upgraded about a month ago to Expanded and haven't had any problems until now.

It worked fine for a minute when I tried it again, but then it repeated itself. All I'm doing is soloing a buss or track or exposing the ProChannel. In the transport panel (is that what it's called?) on top I did notice it is saying "Reset Button". (EDIT) I went back in again - it works just fine on the tracks, but it's the busses that it is crashing on - only in console view. I even tried it on other projects.

"Reset Button" - that is a nasty error and when I have had it (many many times) it means that my project has become corrupt.  I cannot say for sure what has caused the corruption, but it probably is a bad plugin.

When you are loading your project use safe mode (hold shift while loading) and do not load any plugins at all, then test to see if the problem persists.  If it doesn't then you can either rebuild the project starting from scratch with no plugins or you can try to reload the project and try not loading one plugin at a time until the project works.

In my experience if you are having the "reset button" error your only option is to make multiple backup copies of your project as you go along, then when this error occurs you can reload from your last backup save.  My projects usually have upwards of 50+ backups (no joke) as I make different versions etc.  Usually when I save I save "project 4" & "project 4 backup" as a precaution.  Make it a habit to only load the non-backup version so that you can load the backup version when "reset button" occurs again.

My projects also have like 50+ backups...   That is definitely no joke LOL!!  By the time I upload something to soundcloud, I'm usually doing file names that look like bad final exam questions...

Thanks for the responses. It is only doing it periodically and it is doing it on the bus section of the console view on other projects too. I switched to mixing the project in console and then just going to track view to do anything with the buses and it works just fine. I've never had a file corrupt before, but I will start making a back-up at least before entering plug-ins.

don't forget to report it using the problem reporter, or it won't be considered for a fix ;)

    Hi,

I had the same problem with one particular project.  Sonar would crash as soon as I hit the console view.  I reinstalled the whole program but the problem remained with that same project.  Then, I realised that on one of the tracks, the name was blanked.  I don't know how it happened because if you try to erase the name of a track, the track # will appear instead.  Anyway, as soon as I renamed the track, the problem was solved.

So, check if you wouldn't have a "track with no name".
