Lets hope X3 brings an upgrade in the video track department
I write music to picture as many here probably do. A flexible video track showing a video region one can cut, move, trim like an audio file wouldn't be a luxury, as about every other DAW has been offering this for the last 5 years allready...
Turn down the volume! You're disturbing the neighbourgs!

I waould rather use Vegas for 'video editing' and video scoring. SONAR has enough issues just getting stuff solid as it is.

Got a question. At music tech school, in the music for film course, the very first thing we learned is that every pro film music composer makes a tempo map out of markers which represent key points in the picture. Sonar does not have such a function. How do you deal with that? Do you use other software to come up with a suitable tempo to match your music to the film or simply ignore this aspect completely?

FWIW, X2 has both markers (can be locked in time) as well as tempo changes. It's not as full-featured as DP for scoring...

I believe the only DAW that can do this is DP, but it is a very difficult program to learn. Sonar has several marker options, including the ability to lock them to key hit points in your video.

Its not that sonar 'cant' do the same thing but rather an issue of workflow and ease of use. Sure Sonar can create Markers and Tempo change but the reason so many of use programs like Vegas for this is 'ease of use'. Why is an La2a so popular?? sounds great, powerful and easy to use. To be able to trim and move the Video clip to match would just be basic edit functions as many other audio apps have had for a while.

oh I know well about the marker and tempo change features in sonar, but a tempo map like in dp, in order to be able to pick a suitable tempo to compose with, seems indispensable to me if I were to ever work on picture music, so I was just wondering how people cope with that

I use Vegas for my video workflow. It is a fine video program. What a lot of people don't know is that is has been Sony's true multitrack audio workstation for a very long time. It supports MIDI and as many audio tracks as your computer can handle.
Win 10 Pro x64, 32Gb DDR3 ram, Sonar Platinum, Cubase 9.5, Mackie MCU Pro, Cakewalk VS 100, Roland Octa-Capture, A 800 Pro, Carver M-1.5t amp & C4000 pre amp, various mics, drums and brass instruments. And away we go!
