EQ'ing a new your compression?

So I'm reading in Mike Senior's book how NY Compression will emphasize low frequencies and sibilance and so should have EQ following.
Is this possible with the prochannel Comps that have a mix control and are used on the original track instead of a send buss?

Hmm, I don't think so. I'd think you need a send, do the compress/eq there, and then bus the original and the compressed track together.

If you place the compressor first in the PC, set the wet/dry knob to represent how you would set the send, and then follow with the Quad Curve EQ, I'd imagine that would be roughly the same...  except that you can't EQ the send/comp itself independent of the track.  Personally, I'd try it both ways to see whether the difference is audible, and whether you even need that separate EQ.

AFAIK basically any compressor with a wet/dry knob gives out New York compression, as the principle is having a pair of tracks, a heavily compressed one and the original track.

True, but the OP wants to try and place an EQ after the compressed signal, but before mixing it with the dry signal. This means using the wet/dry knob on the compressor is out.

I assumed it was the compressed track that needed EQ but in the PC there is no way to separate the signal flow so I guess the answer is, If it needs EQ as a result of the wet mix, you should use a buss and send instead.
