Ctrl + drag working randomly?

Is it something wrong with my keyboard or is ctrl + drag on clips working randomly?
90% of times, I end up moving my clip instead of creating a copy... I swear this did not happen with X1...

I've never had it not work. Now, I will say I probably shift click on the clip first to make sure that the smart tool is in Clips mode (as it were). Do you make sure the item selected for editing is clips before click dragging? b/c click dragging on an envelope is a different behavior (like move and envelope span).

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Ah shift click and clip mode - did not knew about this subtlety. And yes about the selection, these are clips, something happens to them, either they move or best case, they get duplicated.

I'm interested that you see them move. You know, you should be able to use the right click lasso to select the clips as well (as long as you don't accidentally lasso envelope nodes for the currently active envelope.

I have not had the experience where I went to duplicate a clip and it moved instead. Now, shift click is different than ctrl+click... shift click keeps the clip from moving on the time ruler as you copy it. Ctrl+shift+click drag should copy the clip to a new track or lane with exactly the same starting point on the time ruler.

If no one else is experiencing this issue, I am probably doing too frequently drag and then ctrl instead of ctrl + drag. I'd be happy to know that there is a simple solution :-)

If you're anything like me, this is happening because you occasionally let go of the CTRL key before you drop the clip. I do it all the time. Not just in Sonar, but anything with drag-copy functionality. I do it when drag copying appointments in Outlook as well.

Make sure the little + sign is still visible next to the clip before you let go.
