Need some help with NI's installation/updates
I was in the process of installing the full versions of Kontakt 4, Reaktor 5, Battery 3, and a few other NI items on my new PC. I only installed NI's VST's as the library content was already installed on my older samples HD which I just removed from the old machine and installed it into the new PC. When I use NI's Service Center to do all its Updates, it gives me an error stating that it can't locate the Library and asks me to move those files back to their original location (I'm not at my DAW right now and I'm going from short memory here). The VST's install without a problem, but apparently, not any of the library content updates for any of the VST's. Th update installer doesn't give me an option to choose and point it to the NI Library (Samples HD), and it just gives me that error message (but continues with the VST update). Is there a workaround/fix for this without going through the whole process of installing the 40-50Gb's of samples from the DVD's? TIA, Mesh

I've gone through multiple Kontakt upgrades without problems, even though my libraries are on drive G:. However, all the binaries are installed in their default locations on drive C:. Also, I had originally installed Kontakt on C: way back when and subsequently moved them. This is probably why my upgrades have been successful: the installer already knows where my libraries are. What you want to do is let Kontakt install into its default location and then move the libraries. After installation, jump through the Service Center hoops and then copy the Kontakt 4 Library folder to your samples drive. Go to the Options dialog within Kontakt and change the path there. You should then be able to delete the library folder on the C: drive.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Mesh, open you VST's and tell them where the Libraries are... after that, all should be well....
i.e. in Kontakt, on the left side there is an option to "add Library". Just point it to the where the Libraries are and all should be well... Repeat for the others and you don't have to re-install anything...

Oh heavens....I was afraid of having to do something like this when I eventually get my new machine and have to reinstall Komplete Ultimate. That's a hell of a lot of library content to be moving around.

Good luck, re-installation problems suck... I've been through several, and NI has that service center POS... Others have that ILOK POS. (Piece Of Software...) My best advice is "uninstall everything" and attempt to re-install it from scratch using the original version, then update it with the latest version, again good luck.

I don't have Komplete (yet), but I didn't have to re-install any of my libraries for Kontakt, Battery 3, and other NI 3rd party libraries. I just installed the old samples HD into my new build and then dragged them over to the new 3TB. IIRC, there was about 120GB's of library content and it took something like 20 min to transfer. I know Komplete has a boat load of stuff and the process might take a bit longer, but this might be better than re-installing from all their DVD's no? The only issue I had was when doing the Service Center updates, it didn't know where the libraries were residing. Thanks to cclarry, it was a real easy fix and all my NI VST's are seeing their libraries.

This is a WHOLE lot easier than re-installing the libraries from DVD! When dealing with Komplete 9 Ultimate (even though it installs from a USB HD), installing all those libraries takes hours.
