Original_Deadly Waters_Remastered
I have posted so many loop and sample pieces, that some of you are wondering if I even play any instruments, so I have re-mastered this older piece I had posted back in 2007-8. I wasn't very good at mastering anything back then and now I have been able to hopefully present you a better mixed version of this piece. The drums were done with keyboards using EWQL Storm Drums, I played the guitars (4 of them) using a Digitech GNX4 guitar processor, keyboards for effects and loops and samples for all the other effects. I hope this will verify some of my old skills and talents for those with any questions in mind. Thanks in advance for listening and hope you enjoy. As always all comments are always welcomed. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=7187022 "Deadly Waters" Peace and Blessings, John

The guitar (lead) seems to have a bit too much presence, and it's making it bite a little hard. I would use whatever the wind/synth affect is maybe as an intro? And outro? Or for ****e in places. It seems to distract. Also, you need a bass, and an underlying rhythm instrument with more of a theme. It felt (to me) more like the whole song was an intro? A good one? But I kept waiting for the song to kick in. But bravo on playing the instruments. It just feels (again one opinion) like it needs something more to glue it together, a melody, a bass line, some vocals, etc. edit, I forgot this forum won't let you say spyce because it thinks it's a slur against hyspanycs.

Robbie, The point of the music was to capture a tsunami storm and I think I did that with out bass lines, melodies, singing or anything else for that matter. The wind, the thunder, the lightening, violent waves, the movement and the like for the background carries this piece thru the tragedies that take place during this kind of catastrophic event. The guitar leads, drums and synth tell of the storms 600 mile and hour movement across a wide open ocean, heading for land and the destruction that will soon occur. This is not a piece for a song that anyone could sing or tell a story, as it is already sings and tells its own story. See how the mind wanders? Spice is a good thing as long as you know how to keep it in perspective. Also, your opinion is important, and that is why I can understand it. Maybe when you were listening you failed to scroll down to the About the Song section and read it, that will give you the full story in great detail. Thanks for listening and for your thoughts. Peace and Blessings, John

John, this almost sounds as if it could have been inspired by "Electric Ladyland". I like it as is, and it helps to make you a quintessential electronic musician.
I say that in a good way.

Again - great textures and soundscapes. Love your use of the difference sound effects, panning, water, wind, etc. And the way you mix in the guitar tones and licks. Very nice.

Lynn, WOW!!! What a compliment, thank you. But, I don't know if I am a example for others, but what I am is a person that loves God and tries to do His will in presenting music with messages, giving glory unto Him. I can only thank Him for giving me many wonderful gifts in my life, to share His message with others, in the hopes they will understand His love for all mankind. Thanks for listening. I liked the "Electric Ladyland" concept, and I did get a good chuckle from that idea. I can see where you were coming from with that in mind. Hendrix has always been a favorite of mine. Peace and Blessings, John

I understood the feel you were going for much better after I read what it was written about or based on. I tend to feel similar to the way The Band19 does. I have written a few "wanderers" as I call them too. This kind of music seems fit for a video which isn't a bad thing at all. The Tsunami events I recall have been scary and downright frightful things especially when I think of the unfortunate people who were caught up in it. The tune seems to fit better with the aftermath of the event than the actual event itself JMHO. I hope I am not being too opinionated here. If you don't agree I entirely understand. Your technique was pretty good on the guitar parts. I sometimes wonder what God is trying to convey by allowing these kinds of things. Some people blame Him for it in a bad way. I don't blame God but I almost never understand.Good can come from bad...has and does, so maybe that's the jist of this. Sometimes things are not caused as much as allowed I think. It all fits somehow. I'll stop waxing philosophical.

Starise, WOW, that sure was a lot of thought there, hope you can figure it all out. Things are allowed to happen, billions of time a day, just look around you and listen to the news. We have what is called free will, well, so does He. Should He take away free will? Of course not. As, for the song, look up above what I wrote to Robbie and that will give you a better idea about the piece. I basically tried to capture movement and effects with this piece of a Tsunami roaring across a wide open ocean, heading for land. I do thank you for listening and also for your comments. Sometimes without questions we don't know where others are coming from with their musical creations, and this is why a forum is so good to have just for these reasons, we find some answers to our questions. Hope this was helpful for you. Peace and Blessings, John

I listened again? I'm sorry, I hope you can accept being criticized? It's really not good man... It sounds like some jamimng over an ambient backing track. The drums are not with the music, there is basically no music? Music involves "a melody" There should be a chord progression? And the bass and drums should support this. There should be less "or no" sound effects in the background. The lead should either be melodic, or should support the chords in "the song?" But there seems to be no song? Just wind, and rain sounds, and a chord or two with some jaming over the top. It may be good to rip a bong load to? But as far as a song goes? Or guitar playing? I'm sorry, it's not good. And I mean no disrespect, even though you may take it that way. It's really just one of the only honest opinions you'll get. Listen to my latest post, there's a melody? There are words? The guitar goes "with the melody?" Take notes. Or I could say? Trippy, but focused enough to be very listenable (WTF!!??) I understood the feel you were going for much better after I read what it was written about or based on. (Music is about more than the feel sir...) Cool. A tad too long getting started for me, but then developed nicely. (translation, I didn't like it) But trust me when I say "all of that is BS." People will blow smoke, "most people will blow smoke?" Do you want smoke? I can blow smoke? You don't want smoke... Here, I can blow smoke like these morons... It hat a certain "je ne sais quoi" which was difficult to describe? It took me back to a summer in Spain where I rode horses through the mountains in the spring? There was a smell of fresh berries and pine cones. The playing reminded me of topless girls on the beaches of Martinique... "etc, etc, blah blah blah..." Read? People who are being nice, "are being nice." But it was Trippy, but focused enough to be very listenable... Music is typically somewhat "formulaic" for a reason. It involves a 1, a 4, and a 5, and sometimes a 2m. Or some variation thereof? I know of what I speak... I know how it works, I understand the math (which is what it is). There's a formula to all good music, all good leads, all good rhythms... It's math. Relative majors and minors? Triads? 7ths, 9ths, etc... It's math. But this tune is not math.
