Missing Plugins after re-install

I was running Sonar 8.5.3. 32bit and began having trouble loading a specific project. Upon loading it, I used get multiple Visual C++ errors. I reinstalled/updated multiple service packs for MS visual 2005 and 2010. I then decided to reinstall sonar with 64bit to see if it would correct the possible library issues. I no longer get C++ run time errors when opening the project, but it seems Sonar randomly cannot find plugins. On top of that, when the project loads, it freezes.

I am currently on 8.5.3.282. If I hold shift when I open a project and do not load any plugins, the project loads and plays fine. I am using all 3rd party VSTs. They have not moved and Sonar found them all upon reinstall as the preferences and folders were left intact. Why it seems very random is the fact that it tells me a SPECIFIC instance of Waves SSL comp on a track cannot be found, but a different channel's Waves SSL comp is in the project. It is very confusing. I have no dialogue to replace or locate the missing VSTs of which there are many. I thought perhaps it is using different 64bit versions of the VSTs from my project file made in 32 bit, but that doesn't exactly make sense either. Each plugin can run in 32 or 64, and is in the exact place I've left it. Sonar locates all of my VSTs in the plugin manager, and I can open all of these plugins in a new project. If I hold shift while loading a project and individually OK each plugin, there is not a particular plugin that causes it to crash on the spot. But after OKing each plugin to load individually, it then tells me that some are missing, and also freezes once the project loads. Reinstalling the 64bit version and updating for some reason added an extra grey tab of options to the top of my plugin skins that looks different from before. I also notice when plugins load, there are different USB looking loading graphics in the toolbar. I'm not sure why anything would differ graphically.

I realize I'm posting multiple issues which may be complicated but this is a very big project with a big deadline and I'm very sunk. I've been a Sonar user for nearly ten years and I really need help sorting out the issues of this project. I've read quite a bit about visual c++ errors and missing plugins on here. How may I begin trouble shooting this?

Thank You for your help.

You probably already know this but if not, and I am not sure if it will work in your case but when I receive the dreaded plugin error similar to yours, I have found that if I delete the offending plug from the fx bin and reinstaniate it, it will then load and work. Problem is that the previously meticulously tweaked settings are lost. Sorry that I can't be more helpful.

Do you have the same problem opening a project in the 32-bit version of SONAR, or just when opening projects in the 64-bit version that had been created in the 32-bit version?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

After reinstalling 32 bit today, the project no longer loads. "Sonar has stopped working" error. I have not patched it to 8.5.3 yet so I'll continue working with it.

Loading the project with the patch brings me back to the original problem. I get the abnormal terminations from visual library errors. No missing plugins though. It seems in 64 bit, I can load it with missing plugins and have it lock and 32 bit I can have all my plugins but it won't load at all with out termination. Hmmm.

The errors in 32 bit load.

One other error I occasionally get, although I don't know if this plugin ACTUALLY causes it, because when I disable it, I still get the run time errors.
    I'm running windows 7 64

Windows event logs are not super helpful, I'll record the app logs asap.

Updating for others with the same issue. I uninstalled all my 2005 redistributables, then uninstalled sonar rebooted and reinstalled. Still have the same issues. I think the missing plugins in 64 bit are unrelated, and are just (surprisingly) 32 bit only plugins. At this point I know it isn't my Visual library, or a corrupt file as I am able to load it without plugins. I'll just have to trouble shoot which plugin or combination is causing it with safe mode.

When loading older versions of the project that had no issues before, I now get "the ordinal 709545746 could not be located in the dynamic link library WINMM.dll" a loader error. Help would be greatly appreciated!

I ended up doing a clean install down to the registry. All seems well.
