What driver mode are you using? For instance ASIO or WDM.

    Sonar 7 PE
    Windows XP Pofessional (SP3)
    MSI K8N Neo4-F
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    2 GB PC 3200 Ram
    RME Fireface 800
    Edirol FA-66

    Hi

    Please check/do the following:

    1.  Make sure you have installed the latest software drivers for your audio interface.
    2.  With Sonar NOT running, open the user interface for your audio interface, and set the Sample Rate to 44.1 k (44100), and try a setting for the ASIO Buffer Size of 128.  (your interface might use a slider to control the ASIO Buffer, and you might need to slide it to something between 9-11 milliseconds).
    3.  Please go to Sonar Preferences (without being inside of any project) and try running with a Driver Mode of ASIO.  Click Apply if you change this to ASIO.
    4.  Also in Sonar Preferences, try starting with a Sample Rate of 44100.  This MUST also match what is set for your audio interface, then exit Sonar and also power your audio interface off and back on again.
    5.  OK, now go back to Sonar and preview a song file, like an MP3 or WMA.  If that plays back OK, then you have gotten rid of your latency issues.

If the above does not work for you, please post back, and we will try to help you further.

    Could this be your problem?

I believe you are thinking of Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording "Prepare Using nnn Millisecond Buffers". The default of 250 is too low, bumping to 500 or more prevents dropped MIDI notes.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

    That's great news.

I wish that they would take some of these common kinds of problems and make a sticky thread for things to look at and try.

I have actually saved off the questions I asked earlier, because this is the third time in I think less than a couple of weeks that the same issue has come up, and for which the same solution applied.

In the meantime, I will paste the questions into the next occurrence of this issue.
